Chapter 3

Reid and I got to miss Franklin's house as fast as we could. We got the notes and confirmed my theory. "I have one last question" I say "Do you have a student who seems like he is trying to learn but he gets really pissed when he messes up?" I ask
"Oh yes, Kyle Welder" she says
"I'll call Garcia" Reid says
"Thank ma'am" I say and I follow Reid back to the car.

"Garcia texted me his address and Hotch said to start and they'll meet us there" he says
"Ok, let's go" I say. When we arrived at Kyle's house, we wore our vests and in-ear communication. Reid goes first and knocks on the door. There is no answer so he kicks the door down. I go left and he goes right. "Living room and kitchen clear" I say
"Bedroom and bathroom clear" he says.

So we go together in the basement. "He's here. He is with the latest victim" I say to the others
"We are on our way. Say or do something to delay him until we get there" Hotch says in our ear
"Hey, Kyle!" I say taking his attention from the woman that he had tied down on the table. She was very conscious and he was getting ready to cut her open. Reid and I both walk towards him with our guns pointed towards him. "Let her go and you can have me" I say
"Jessie, what are you doing?" Hotch asks but I ignore him
"She has a tumors on her uterus and you just want to experiment, don't you?" I ask
"Yes, so? What do you have?" he asks still holding the scalpel in his hand
"I have something even better" make up something, make up something, brain make up something. "I have two uteruses" I finally say.

"No, you can't" he says
"Of course I can" I say
"It's rare but it's also possible. In about every 2,000 women worldwide have this condition. A double uterus is an abnormality that develops when a baby girl is in her mother's womb. Every uterus starts out as two small tubes called Mullerian ducts. As they begin to develop, they usually fuse together to form one uterus. But in rare cases, the tubes remain separate and become two uteri. Sometimes there is only one cervix for both wombs, other times each womb has a cervix. Often the vagina in women with a double uterus is divided into two separate openings by a thin membrane" Reid says.

"Keep talking to him. Keep him busy until we get there. Jessie don't get any closer" Hotch says in our ear
"However, it's not known exactly what causes this to happen. It could be that there is a genetic link, as the condition has been known to run in families. Sometimes the shape of the uterus that the fetus has implanted in leads to miscarriage. As well, women with a double uterus generally have smaller uteri, which can lead to preterm labor. But it's entirely possible for women with a double uterus to carry a baby to term. In a very small number of cases, women with a double uterus find they are unable to get pregnant" Reid continues to say.

"You can have her" he says letting free the woman he had tied down on his table. She comes to us
"Get her out of here" I say to Reid and he nods. "Come from the back" I whisper to him as he walked past me.
"Now you! Come here" Kyle demands looking at me and still holding his scalpel
"I will. I will" I say trying to stall. "I'm gonna walk to you really really slowly" I say
"Jessie, we are almost there" Hotch says.
"But before I come I want you to let the scalpel down and I'll come sit on the table" I say without meaning it of course but I could hear Hotch's breathing change, probably getting more furious.

"I'm going behind him. Jessie keep stalling" Reid says in my and the others ear. A few seconds later I see Reid coming from the back.
"Please, the only thing I want is for you to let the scalpel down, ok? Let it on the table and I will come sit right next to it" I say trying not to look at Reid who was behind him. Kyle lets the scalpel down on the table and immediately Reid hits him from the back, knocking him on the ground. He puts cuffs on him and I can finally breath again.
"I got him" Reid says and that's when we hear the sirens.

The door opens and the others run inside. Morgan, Hotch and JJ run towards Reid and Emily comes to me. "Are you ok?" Emily asks
"Yes, I think so" I say
"Let's go, they got him" she says and wraps her arm around my shoulders. We walk outside and I lay my back against one of the cars. The truth is that I am still trying to calm down.

We got on the jet, to get back home and Hotch hasn't talked to me yet. He is just going through some other files. I take a deep breath and I go and sit across from him. "I'm sorry that I didn't listen when Reid and I were in the basement" I say
"You saved a woman's life, didn't you?" he asks without taking his eyes off the papers
"Yes" I say
"And you helped to find and catch the unsub, didn't you?" he asks
"I suppose" I say
"And you didn't get the unsub, another agent or yourself hurt in the process, did you?" he asks
"No" I say
"Then you have nothing to apologize about" he says finally looking at me and I smile.

"The truth is that I was trying to stay calm and not tremble while my insides were screaming 'Get the hell out of here'" I say
"But you didn't. That's what matters to me. Good work today Agent Grey" he says smiling and looking me in the eyes
"Thank you sir" I say smiling back to him. "And no, I don't have two uteruses. If I did, you would have already seen it on my papers" I say and he chuckles
"I know" he says and I nod.

Meanwhile in the other group...
"I give them 3 months" Emily says looking at us
"I give them 6. She's too shy to start it and he's... Hotch, you know" Morgan says
"I agree with Emily. 3 months" JJ says
"According to a study, it takes around 172 days for a person to decide if the person they are dating is--" Reid starts to say but Morgan stops him
"Ok. So we are 2 against 2. 200 bucks. 100 each. Are you in?" he asks
"In" they all say.
