Chapter 38

We went to the interrogation room and sat behind the glass. JJ did her first part, then Derek played the bad cop and now it's my turn. I was behind the glass all the time. "Jessie... I know you're there" he says looking at the glass but it's like he is looking at me. "Come on, talk to me" he says. I take a breath and I press the button
"What do you need?" I ask
"There she is. Are you alone? What are you wearing?" he asks
"A gun" I say and I close it.

"Are you sure you want to go in?" Aaron asks again
"Yes. I will present tough but then he'll try to scare me off. If he thinks he still has control over me, he'll relax. Derek, whatever Calvert says, don't let him come in" I say pointing at Aaron and he nods. I take a deep breath and I go inside. "Oh hello!" he says smiling
"I brought the coffee that you ordered" I say as I set it on the table and I sit down across from him
"You look good. Is it something special today?" he asks taking a sip
"We are not here to talk about me" I say opening the file. "In this file I have all the reports that have been filed against you for domestic violence" I say
"You know that those aren't true. I tried was always nice" he says
"Only when I wouldn't talk. Who sent you here Rony?" I ask
"The bureau did for my protection, remember? And it's Agent Calvert for you" he says and I chuckle
"I don't know if anyone told you but you're already fired Rony. After my new report against you, you are under a very detailed investigation" I say.

"Wait, wait, you did what?" he yells
"I did what I should have done a long time ago. But it's never too late. Now let's go back to what happened yesterday. Why did you think that it was a good idea to go after the unsub?" I ask
"Come on Jess, do we really have to do this now?" he asks
"Don't call me Jess" I say
"Why? Doesn't Aaron call you Jess? Doesn't Jack call you Jess?" he asks still smiling. "Huh?" he yells and hits his hand on the table causing me to jump and that was not acting. "You will never be his mom Jess. Not to him and not to Aaron. But you already knew that so don't dream about a family. You won't have that ever" he says.
"Ok, now that you got that out of your chest let's take a break" I say and I leave the room.

I get out and I run to Penelope's office. "Is there a way you can check if there are microphones or cameras in a place?" I ask her immediately
"If they are wireless probably yes. What do you want me to check?" she asks as Aaron and Derek follow me in there
"My apartment" I say and she starts typing immediately.
"What happened?" Aaron asks
"He said that even Jack calls me Jess" I say
"Yes, he started calling you Jess sometimes a few weeks ago, right?" he asks
"Yes but... Jack and I had a conversation a few weeks ago. He asked me if, whenever you and I would get married, he would have to call me mom. I told him that he doesn't have to because I can never replace his mom. I told him that he can call me however he wants and he chose Jess. That's how he started. But that conversation happened in my apartment and I didn't tell you or anyone about it and I don't think that Jack did either" I say
"Why didn't you tell me about it?" he asks
"I thought that I didn't have to. I'm sorry" I say
"I am picking up an unusual signal from your building so let me work on that and I'll let you know when I got it" Penelope says.

We get out of her office and I run back to the interrogation room. I go inside alone but this time even more furious. "Who are you working with?" I ask slamming my hand on the table
"I don't know what you're talking about" he says calmly which at this point drives me even more crazy
"You will talk to me or I will make you" I say and he chuckles
"And what would that involve?" he asks
"You're pathetic" I say and I turn to leave
"What did you just call me?" he asks and I stop
"Pathetic. Why isn't it true? You are trying to prove that you are better and stronger all the time with violence. You want the people around you to be scared of you so you can feel like you're someone important. You want your spouses to tell you how amazing and important you are to them all the time but you're non of that. How much do you think JJ?" I ask looking at the glass for a second "Average to little. And I'm so sure that he can't get it up anymore because of his prostate and that's why he became even more violent. That's also why he came back to me. I was the last one, huh? But I still can't figure out how you got her pregnant. I guess Viagra can work sometimes" I say
"It's none of your business" he says
"You're right and I don't care. I have more important things to do. You're just another pity trash that will rotten in jail. I'm sure you know how they treat cops in prison" I say and I walking to the door
"Then how did I find you?" he yell angry
"You didn't. You hired someone to do it and then to keep an eye on me" I say and I leave the interrogation room.

"Uhm... I found something" Penelope says "You should come with me" she says
"Morgan and JJ stay here and keep an eye on him" Aaron says and we follow Penelope to her office
"I found the source of the signal" she says and I see my apartment on her screen. "I found seven cameras and mics. Two in the living room, one pointing at the door, one in the kitchen, one in bathroom, one in the bathroom and one in the guest's room" she says
"Oh my God" I whisper "That means... That means that he was in my apartment, he was in my house, he was in my house, he was in there when I wasn't or maybe when I was asleep. He is been watching me and you. He... He..." I say panicking
"Hey, hey, breath" Aaron says hugging me
"He was... He was in my house" I say
"I know" he says holding me "Everything is gonna be ok" he says
"How?" I ask
"I'm gonna send a team to get all your things from there and move them to our house" he says
"Our house?" I ask
"Yes. We got the house" he says
"What? When?" I ask
"I got a call this morning and I wanted to tell you later when we would be done with this" he says.

"Hotch!" Derek yells as he comes in the office "Calvert is dead" he says
"What? What happened?" I ask
"He stuck a pen in his carotid" he says
"Oh this is just great" I say ironically.
