The previous night had been exhausting for Lion as he and Elijah had played video games and laughed past their normal curfew. The boy awoke to the sound of sirens wailing outside of his bedroom window, grumpy he'd been disturbed in his sleep, Lion yanked the covers off of himself and leisurely walked towards his window, fire trucks were slowly driving through the streets, a parade had struck in his part of town. Lion didn't falter more about it and slipped himself into cozy clothes before stepping out of his room and around to the open kitchen. Lion was off from work all day, his boss allowing him to reflect.

Lion couldn't help but remember the moment he had with Elijah the day before, the boy's toes curled, and shivers racked up his body. He had the sweetest look in his eyes as he remembered all the loving touches and the way Elijah let him do as he pleased. Lion had never felt more in love with someone than now; he wanted endless kisses and cuddles from the man. Lion looked around the open space, Elijah's large sweater coming down to Lion's small, fragile legs. The boy had lost so much weight being on the streets. After everything had happened with Ilany, Lion had given up taking care of himself, hence why he was no longer healthy and able to fight anyone off anymore. Slowly, Elijah would take care of him and bring him back to his proper health.

The boy's mind wandered away from his happy thoughts when his phone began to ring; checking his screen, he noticed it was a number from the hospital. Nervous, Lion swiped the green button on his screen and pressed his phone against his ear, "hello?" Lion's voice cracked, embarrassment crawling up his face.

"Yes, Mr. Meyer?" A deep voice spoke through the phone, sending Lion's mind into overdrive, "I'm calling to let you know that the payment for your mother's hospital bill went through successfully and that your mother's operation proceeded very well. She should be able to leave in a few more weeks, two to the least." The man finished speaking, leaving Lion in a daze.

Lion soon snapped out of it, though, spluttering his words before speaking, "th-that's perfect, when will I be able to speak with her?" His anxiety shot through the roof as he waited for the doctor to answer him.

The boy silently hoped it would be today and not later. He wanted to tell his mother how well he was doing and that she could come over any time, "unfortunately, she is not available as she is still recovering from the medication we needed to give her for the operation. She should be able to call the latest tomorrow." Lion's emotions contorted, but he understood his mother needed to rest.

"Okay, thank you." He hung up, placing his phone down, the screen to the surface of the kitchen counter. He left it there, not wanting to be bothered. Lion moved towards the TV, opening the Wii console and sitting in a comfortable position in the large couch's center.

The boy began to game, pressing his fingers against the Wii controller, knuckles white from how intense he was playing. He'd often let a few curses slip his mouth, losing a level or map he could have won if only it weren't for those small fire plants. Lion no longer wanted to think about the negative things that circled his mind; he just wanted to be in his bubble, something he hadn't accomplished in a very long time. Growing up, he always had either his father or his mother around to keep him company; tell him to play outside with them or even change away from the television and play board games instead. He never really had an alone time where he could do whatever he wanted. He always had someone around him. It often frustrated him because he would see all of his school friends do everything alone and learn to be independent when stuck between two adults, afraid of him to step into the world. Lion always wanted to learn new things and was the curious kid in his class. He never was bullied for being distant, but instead was admired by most for how well-raised he was.
