Later that night, I had come home for the night after making sure Lydia was okay. She seemed well, but the doctors wanted to keep her at the hospital for obversation in case anything like that happened again.

I had just gotten ready for bed when there was a knock on the door. I was halfway down the stairs when I got a bad feeling. I tried to listen, but all I heard was heavy panting and a rapidly beating heart.

I cautiously opened the door to see a very distressed Isaac. Immediately, I knew that something was wrong. I straightened up. "You said that if I ever need anyone, I could turn to you. Is that still true?"

I nodded quickly. "Yeah, of course". I quickly led him inside. I led him to the couch and placed a blanket over him, considering how badly he was shaking. "I'm gonna go make you some hot coco". I then headed to the kitchen.

I quickly made the drink, using a little bit of magic to make the drink extra soothing and extra delicious. I gently handed him his drink and sat next to him as I patiently waited for him to tell me what had him so freaked out.

He took one sip before setting the mug on the coffee table. He turned to me. "First, I have to tell you something and you need to promise not to tell anyone". I nodded nervously. Suddenly, his eyes glowed a familiar golden.

My eyes widened and my mouth broke out into a huge smile. "You're a werewolf!"

He looked at me with confusion. "How could you tell? I didn't even have the chance to say it".

I took a deep breath as I decided to answer his question truthfully. "I promised you I wouldn't tell anyone your secret. Now, I need you to promise the same thing". He nodded. I shifted and anxiously waited for his response.

He stared at me in curiosity. "What are you?"

I took another deep breath. "I'm a vampire". His curiosity seemed to deepen. I shrugged my shoulders. "I'm also a witch". I shifted my position on the couch so I was facing him more and looked at him with a worried expression on my face. "Are you ready to tell me what happened?"

He took a deep breath as he began his story. "My dad and I were having dinner and talking about my grades. When I told him I got a D in chemistry, he got angry. He told me I had to clean up the kitchen then started smashing the dishes on the floor. He had me backed up against the wall. One of the shards cut my face just under my eye. I took it out and it healed instantly, right in front of him".

"And then what did you do?" I asked, my own heart rate increasing.

"I ran out of there!" He looked on the verge of tears. "I didn't know who else to turn to, you were the first person that came to mind. Somehow, I knew you'd understand".

I looked at his trembling state and decided I needed to appear calm, for his sake. I took a deep breath to calm down. I placed my hands over his trembling ones in an effort to calm him down. "Why don't you stay here tonight? We can deal with this tomorrow after school. Later tonight, while he's sleeping, I'll take you to your house to grab your stuff for tomorrow. That way, you won't have to face him when you're clearly not ready.

"After that, why don't I give you a hand in chemistry? I'm 1000 years old and I've gone to high school plenty of times, so I know a thing or two about chemistry. I can ask Mr. Harris if we can be lab partners".

He nodded. "Thank you," he said, seemingly grateful for all I was offering him. I smiled softly in response.

We spent the night talking. I did my best to get his mind off of all that had happened.

At midnight, I took him to his house. We thought it was odd how his father's car was gone, but didn't think much of it. "Wait here," he said before getting out of the car and running into his house.
