Ian's POV
We all looked a bit confused as we sat back onto our seats.
"Mr Liam Grayson was supposed to be here but since he's in Europe for business, we decided to call Mr Orman." He nodded towards Blake Orman.
"So, I've chosen you all to do this job and not others because I trust you all more. All your fathers have been my good friends." God, he was beating around the bush. Just come to the damn point.
"I want you all to go and make alliance deals with the three biggest companies in LA. Attend their parties and diner. Butter them. Do whatever it takes. On the day of the main function, where the rest of the people who came today will be present, and other businessmen from other places. anyways back to the point, on that day they will announce their alliance with you all. That is if you succeed. This is not only good for your company, but it means a small percentage of their huge income will be yours." He explained. He had lots of ideas about increasing the popularity of businesses and all. That's why he was made head.
"That is an amazing plan." Mr Thompson spoke looking at his wife. They were married for about two years and ran their business together.
"Now, Mr and Mrs Thompson will work together. Mr Orman and Ms Balker, and Mr Parker with Ms Williams. Mr Grayson was supposed to go with Ms Williams but since he is unavailable at the moment, Mr parker will take his place."
My eyes widened at what he said. My gaze shifted to meet those of Kiara who looked at me with a similar shock in her eyes.
"You have two weeks to prepare yourself, presentations and lectures, whatever you need to impress them. Work together. I'll meet you two days before your flight to La. Thank you for your presence. Fell free to contact me anytime." He said and told us our companies that we had to work with, handed us the files and documents, before getting up and leaving us alone. The hall was soon empty after the other four people left, leaving me and Kiara alone. Staring at each other.
"Um...so would you like to grab a coffee and discuss this?" I asked fearing her response. She looked at me before answering.
"Sure." She simply said.
We made our way out of the building. We decided to use my car, as Lewis and Tyler took hers.
The car ride was silent and awkward. I looked over her a few times. God, she was beautiful. Her red curls falling on her face. Her light freckles showing through the light amount of makeup she has put on. Her green eyes were glowing under the sun as she looked out of the window.
We finally reached a small Greek café. We went towards an empty table and I pulled out her seat for her. She turned to smile at me. her smile was something I could stare at forever. I sat Infront of her.
"What would you like?" I asked her as she picked up the menu to look at the options.
"Umm, I think I'll have all berry cheesecake with a black coffee. Yeah. What about you?" she looked at me as she closed and kept the menu in her hands down.
"I'll have a red velvet cake with a cappuccino," I said smiling.
She waved at the waitress signalling her that we were ready to order.
"Hey welcome, I'm Maya and I'll be taking your orders today?" the waitress spoke.
"Hi Maya, yeah Id like one all berry cheesecake with black coffee. And could you add extra sugar in it?" Kiara spoke. Maya quickly noted it down and smiled at Kiara who returned the gesture.
"And what can I get for you, sir?"
"I'll have one red velvet cake with a cappuccino, thank you"
She quickly went to get our orders. My gaze turned towards Kiara again who was removing her coat.
I missed her.
Kiara's POV
as I removed my coat and placed it on the chair beside me, I noticed Ian staring at me.
Honestly, today was a whole rollercoaster. I had to work and go on a whole trip with the once person I don't want to see. Because it reminds me of the past. No matter how hard I tried to tell myself I was over him, a part of me always longed for him. And I hated that it did.
We kept staring at each other for what seemed like an eternity hen Maya was back with our orders. She placed the food in front of us before mouthing an "enjoy" before leaving. I saw Ian as he ate the first bite of his cake before smiling. He had always loved cakes, especially red velvet. His mom used to make it for him every time. I still remember how we talked about our parents sitting on the roof staring at the stars. He was my happy place.
We had discussed the work and decided that we could meet every day after work to start planning stuff. We paid for the food and left a nice tip for the amazing waitress.
We made our way out and he drove me back to my house.
"So ill see you day after tomorrow?" he asked,
"I'm actually all booked this week with work. How does Sunday sound?"
"That's like 5 days before our flight."
"yeah, if there is a problem I can-"
"No its fine, ill see you Sunday then?"
"For sure" I smiled back.
He waited till I got inside the house. Tyler had brought my car back before leaving for his house, or that's what the security said.
I decided to take a long shower before bed since today was a long day and I was exhausted.
After the hot shower, as I was brushing my hair, my phone rang. It was Uncle Jacob. Why was he calling so late at night? I quickly went to grab my phone and picked it up...
I picked up the call, "Hello, yes uncle is something wrong?" worry dripping in my voice.
"No sunflower why would think that?"
"I thought something happened since you're calling me this late."
"Oh, something did happen.."---------
