One More Chance To Hold You

-CHAPTER 12-

Kiara's POV

I waited for Ian to say what he wanted to. It seemed like he was bothered by something.

"Um so tomorrow after 6 pm you could come over to my office and after we discuss the work papers, we could go for dinner maybe?" he asked in a firm tone.

What was I supposed to say? Dinner with my ex? Who was engaged the last time I saw him? I noticed he was waiting for an answer. His hands were in his pockets, he stood there tall not one bit of weakness in his dark eyes.

"Umm.."

"Or we could meet at your office and then go for dinner." He offered.

"No, ill see you in your office at 6.." I weakly managed to smile. he had seen my office; I could see his now. Besides it's not like he's gonna kidnap me or something, it's just a dinner nothing big.

"Okay, then I'll see you tomorrow." He said, his lips formed into a smirk. If I could just...no shut up.

While I was fighting with the voices in my head, I noticed him staring at me.

"Is something wrong?" I asked, tugging a piece of hair back. It sure was windy.

"No." he simply replied, still staring at my face as it had suddenly turned blue. Did it though? Man STFU.

"Then what's with the staring?" I asked turning away to face the city lights.

"Don't know, just admiring your features." He said before turning around too. I felt my cheeks turn a slight bit red.

"I- "
"I should go." We spoke at the same time. "Sorry what?" I asked.

"Nothing, yeah you should, your friend seems bored."

I looked back to see Maria scrolling through her phone with a bored face. God, I forgot she was there.

"Yeah, ill see you tomorrow. Bye," I left without giving him a chance to respond.

"So, and Mr Parker huh?" maria asked.

"Mr Parker?" I asked innocently while focusing on the road and my driving.

"Yeah don't act dumb. The hot guy at the café, I saw him on the magazine cover." She smirked

"Yeah, it was business."

"C'mon Kia it was more than just business."

"What do you want me to say, Ree?"

"Don't call me that, it weird. And I want the truth."
"I like that name. and it's the truth he called me for business. I told you about the LA meeting, right? About that."
"KIA"
"OK FINE GODDAMN! I dated him while I was in college. But then we ended things and I see him here for the first time in six years. Happy?"
"So like lover reunited. God so are you guys a thing now.?"

"NO!"

"Geez, it was just a question calm down."

I rolled my eyes and she kept asking more questions. Soon I gave in and told her bout what all happened in the past.

"I think you should give him a chance to explain himself. Even though he was a dick, there must be a reason."
"I don't know Ree, I don't want to bring back those memories. Besides, I've already been betrayed once. It's just business and nothing more."

The rest of the drive home was awkward, but maria did change the subject and started talking about her college. As we reached home, I went to bed. It was a long day, and I didn't want to stay up thinking about shit.
