Sept. 19
The day started out as every other 'boring' day in the life of myself, Katana Black, excuses me, Katana Riddle.
I had woken up before the crack of dawn, deciding to experiment on what Twinkles had told me, slipping out of my warm bed, into the cold breathy air, I snapped my fingers and watched as my clothes shifted into muggle clothing, black leggings and a red t-shirt that hugs my body in perfect ways.
I closed the door to my dorm-room, one I was lucky enough to not have to share with anyone, and silently glided out the back of the castle.
The morning air was crisp, the sun barely shining over the lake, glittering like jewels, reflecting on my silver patch, the glow just visible from my uncovered eye. Dawn was my favorite part of the day, no one was typically up, or wanting to be, it was just me and the world. Alone, as it mostly has been. My breath lightly fogged up the air, for the mornings have recently gotten colder as the months progressed.
I was about to slip into the dark forest, ready to 'unleash' my beast, until I saw a familiar bushy head of hair just poking from around a big tree, about 50 yards from me.
'Should I?' my internal monologue started.'I should, but will it be obvious?' 'What would be obvious?' "Nothing,' "Let's just head over and make sure she's alright.' 'Yes, don't let your guard down though.'
I sigh, switching directions of my feet, heading to the bank of the black lake, where Hermione was sitting on the dirt, leaning against the trunk of a huge tree. "Are you alright?" I ask gently, my voice unusually soft.
Hermione jumps up, turning quickly around, her caramel brown eyes shining with recent tears. "Yes, I'm completely and utterly fine." She snaps, wiping her under-eyes angrily. 'that was adorable.' "What happened." I ask, leaning against the brown tree.
"Nothing."
"Uhhh." I slowly nod, looking deep into her eyes, making her falter.
"Why are you even out here?" She asks.
"I was about to head into the forbidden Forest." I tell her.
"You can't, it's against the rules."
"True, then why are you out here this morning?"
"No reason."
"Uhhh, then that's why you were crying."
"I wasn't crying!!" She snaps. I smirk at her fiery attitude.
"It's not like I'll tell anybody, what's up?" I ask her gently, stepping forward a little.
"My cat died." She blurts.
"You don't have a cat." I tell her.
"How would you know!?"
"I'm very observant." I smile, covering up my complete obvious 'watching her.' "Spill."
"It's my birthday today." She tells me. I nod, crossing my arms over my chest.
"And?" I prod, tilting my head, interested in her story.
"Harry and Ron don't know, and they also think that I'm younger than them."
"How is that the reason you were crying?"
"What if they don't care? What if they're only being my friends to. to, I don't know, copy off of me or something."
I chuckle lightly. "It's not funny!" She snaps, making hash eye contact with me again.
"It's not, you're right. But do you honestly think, that those two dimwitted boys are only your friend because you are smart?" She slowly started to nod.
