I decide to break the silence by clearing my throat.
"So, do you always wake up this early?" I ask him.
Did he feel as awkward as I did? Or did he not mind at all?
"No." he looks out through the window, both hands in his pockets.
"Oh." I reply.
He probably doesn't want to have a chit chat."I couldn't fall asleep." he says. "What about you?" Damn his accent!
"Same." I nod.
Somehow I find the need to change the conversation.
Although I couldn't help but wonder, if he too, was thinking about our chat last night.
But I immediately snap out of it.
"Have you read these books?""Some of them." he answers.
"How'd you find this place?" I ask him a while later.
"I didn't." he responses.
"Huh?" Do I sound like an idiot? "What do you mean?"
"You need not know it Emma." he turns to me and lowers his glance to look me in the eye.
Why does he have to say my name like that?I nod. Before this conversation, like all the other conversations we've had, turns into a fierce argument.
"I should get going." I take his jacket off of me and hand it over to him. And I walk to the door.
"Where are you going?" he asks me.
I turn back to look at him. He looks like a cute little puppy.
"Back to the dorms I guess?" I shrug.
"Why?" Whyyy???
"What do you mean why Jayden?"
"Are you scared of me?" he walks up to me.
"What are you talking about?" I ask him, feeling the familiar heat in my face as he approaches me.
"Is that why you're trying to walk away? Because you fear my presence?" he gets closer. Step by step.
"I literally walked in here with you. Does it look like I am afraid?" I ask him. Meanwhile my heart starts racing.
"Let me rephrase then." he says. "Why did you fearlessly walk into a closed room with a stranger when there's no one to your rescue?"
"Rescue?" I ask him. "Rescue me from what?" he's so close to me I can feel him breathe.
I can almost feel his pulse in my veins.
That's exaggerating!"You're the hopeless romantic. Not me." I can smell his perfume.
"Do you think I'm interested in you?"
"Are you not?" he whispers in my ear.
I put my hand on his chest and push him back slowly. The only way I could do it.
"Not the slightest bit." my face heats up."You are one bad liar." He smirks.
"I'm not lying." I answer furiously.
"You must love your boyfriend very well then."
"Not that it's any of your business, but I don't have a boyfriend."
"Is this you trying to tell me that you're single?" he lifts both his eyebrows.
"Why would I do that? You made it sound like I do have one. I'm simply clearing out a misunderstanding." I respond.
"A misunderstanding? Don't flatter yourself Emma. I couldn't care less about your love status."
"I couldn't care less about what you think of me!" He brings out the worst in me.
"And yet here you are!"
Urghhh!!!"What is your problem with me?" I ask him. "Why can't we have one normal conversation like other normal people?"
"We are not on the same page. You and I." he answers.
"Why can't we be?"
"You believe in stupid myths like love. Boy meets girl, they fall in love, have an argument, split, and he brings her flowers, suddenly they are back together. That's the fairytale you live in!" he says it all at once. Throwing it all at me.
"You know what's your problem Jayden? You are so stuck in your own beliefs, you don't wanna hear anyone else out. That's your problem. Your ego!"
"You have no idea what you're talking about. I've told you before! Don't act like you know me."
Surprising fun fact, despite the argumentative conversation, the tones in which we both speak remain slow. Harsh words, but no harsh tone.
Weird."Neither do you. So let's end it here." I say as I walk out of the cabin.
I close the door behind me. Leaving him in there alone.A part of me wishes I didn't.
What is he doing in there?
I think to myself. He really does bring out the worst in me. But why can't I treat him like I'd treat any other nasty person?
I don't know.
And right now, I don't think I could process anymore thoughts of him.I walk back fast.
And get to the dorms.Another bad morning!
Yikes!!!
