"What are you doing?" my voice is low.
"What am I doing?"
I take a step backwards as he takes a step forward, till it goes on and I hit the counter.
"Stop." I manage to find my voice. "What are you trying to do?"
He bends down, to look me in the eyes.
Both his palms resting on the counter by my sides. My hands went cold, and I felt the heat on my face.
He doesn't move his eyes away from mine. Finally he smirks.
"You know you are stupid for trying to live in a fairytale. Right?"
"I'm not." I speak. "But I'm also not as insensitive as you are."
"Don't act like you know me." accent!
"Don't act like you know me either!" I ask of him.
"I never did!" he straightens, taking both his hands off the counter.
"You are trying so hard to make sure people see you for who you are." he runs a hand through his hair. "It's obvious."Dang!
"If that's true, then you must be trying to show people how much of an arse you are." I regret it the second it comes out of my mouth.
Although, he laughs. "You have the freedom to think of me as you wish. I'm not trying. You are!"
"I'm not!"
"Doesn't look like it though. Does it?" he smirks.
"What do you want from me?" I ask him, finding it difficult to breathe.
"What could I possibly want from a hopeless romantic?" he sighs.
Kent comes through the basement door.
"You guys alright?" He looks confused.
Jayden grabs the bottle of punch from my grasp, a smirk on his face, and he turns around.
Kent catches the bottle Jayden threw over to him as he said "Let's go!" and headed back to the basement.
"Everything okay Em?" Kent looks genuinely concerned.
"Yea! I just need to use the restroom." I smile.
"It's over there." he points it out.
I nod and head toward the direction he had pointed in.
"Em?" he calls behind me.
"Yea?"
"Be alright!" he smiles a weak smile.
"You know I always am!" I grin.
Not true!"That's my girl! We'll be waiting for you. Come back soon." he says heading back to the basement himself.
I wash my face and stare at myself in the mirror.
Confused.Since I can't keep them waiting any longer, I decide to head back.
I spot Jayden on his phone looking as normal as ever.
How is it that he is never affected by the weird conversations we have?
I wonder..."FINALLY!" Chris exclaims. "There you are!"
"We started to think you ran off or something." Ash adds.
"I had to make a phone call." I lie.
"Let's move on to the next movie then." Sam suggests.
Yes please!
Throughout the next movie, I'm lost in the previous encounter back at the kitchen. While everyone else reacts with "Oh God!" and all the gasping and screaming, I'm just seated there blank and empty.
I kept trying to focus on the movie alone, but kept failing.
I sneak a glance or two at Jayden, he seems to be doing alright. But why me?
Why is it only me?
More importantly, how long will this go on for? It's only the first day!!!
