After breakfast, we help mom with the chores.
Jo goes back to studying, Vee joins mom in doing some knitting , and dad does some work on his laptop.
Chris and I head upstairs to our room.
We've decorated it to our heart's extent. The rays of sunlight enter the room through the windows by the reading nook. Making the furry white carpet warm.
We have got two desks connected together in an "L" shape in the corner of the room. One for Chris and one for me.Every morning I would play one of my many vinyl records, and either read, write, draw or paint.
Chris would join me often. Or she'd do some of her own work.
We've both pasted pieces of paper from newspaper and magazine pages, in the walls, to form several sceneries or figures of the people we admire.
Not to sound boastful, but our room is quite a perfect room."Should we head to the basement?" Chris asks me.
The basement is where we have all our musical equipment. Both me and Chris, we take a particular interest in music. Playing around and making some music is the kind of thing we enjoy doing.
"Finish the song today?" I ask her, referring to our most recent work in progress.
"Yesssss!!!"
The basement, our studio, is darker than the rest of the house. It has dim lighting, carpeted hardwood floors and color changing LED lights. With a lot of hard work, we managed to bring the condition up to a professional standard.
I must admit, having an architect and a future engineer, Jo, comes in handy at times."Can you believe that we have just one week till our college life begins?" Chris sighs.
The question held such a weight to it. For a week flew by, too fast, too soon.
Bringing us to our first day at college as freshmen, a week later.
Today..."My little princesses, Kent's here!" mom calls me and Chris from downstairs.
Kent is our childhood friend/neighbour. He is a sophomore.
Having him with us would be nice."Did you pack everything?" mom asks.
We nod in response.
"We'll come see you both as soon as possible. I wish we could drop you guys on your first day." a tear rolls down her cheek."There there now!" It's my turn to hug her. "You guys will be there next week right? Not to worry!" I console her.
"Plus, Jo's dropping us, and we have Kent for all the support we need." adds Chris.
"Shall we then?" Jo asks, fidling with the car keys.
"Take care my little girls! Do stay safe at all times! Stay in touch!" dad runs to us.
"Yes sir!" Chris and I answer at the same time, breaking into laughter then and there.
After an emotional departure from home filled with forehead kisses from mom and dad and tight hugs from Vee, we leave home.
A few hours later, we make it to the college grounds filled with laughter and chatter.
Jo and Kent help us transport our luggage to the dorms.
The room the two of us are meant to share is a nice place. It's got a light shade of purple wallpaper with tiny floral prints. Two beds and desks by the sides, two closets and one dressing table. It was nice and spacious enough for the two of us to be satisfied.
"Well this is nice!" I smile.
We head back to the parking lot to see Jo off.
He leaves after helping us settle down. After a few hugs he gets back inside the car to leave.
"Do take care of them all you can Kent!" Jo requested Kent."Yes sir!" Kent laughs as Jo waves at us all and starts the engine.
"Good luck you two!" he yells behind him as he leaves.
It's amazing how we always stuck together, Vee included, despite our age differences.
Moving on, I could see Chris tensed and turning red with fear.
I myself felt quite nervous. Happiness combined with nervousness gave quite the funny feeling altogether.Chris had tied her blonde hair up in a ponytail, dressed in a salmon pink crop top, and a pair of ripped denim jeans.
Meanwhile, my dark auburn hair is up in a ponytail as well. I'm dressed in a short white shirt blouse and a pair of black trousers.
"Well well... My friends are at the cafeteria. Both sophomores and freshmen. Some of them could be taking the same classes as you I suppose. Shall we go then without further ado?" Kent shows us the way, with a little bow.
We walk to the cafeteria.
"Yo Kent!" a guy with fuzzy black hair shouts, while waving at Kent with a huge grin on his face."Wassup man?" Kent walks over, giving fuzzy a fist pump.
Chris hangs onto my arm as we follow Kent.
"These are my friends, freshmen." Kent turns to us. "Guys meet Emma and Chris."
"Hello Emma, hello Chris!" fuzzy shakes hands with us. "I'm Zach. And this is..."
"I'm Jordan. Howdy?" another guy salutes.
"I'm Sam. Hello!" the other smiles.
"You guys are la-a-y-me!!!" a pretty girl, the only one in the gang probably, says.
"I'm Ashley! A freshman just like the two of you. You can call me Ash!" she smiles, reaching for a hug.She is probably around 5'6 with a well maintained figure. Being 5'3, I couldn't help feeling short when standing next to her. She has her havana brown hair up in a messy bun, and a denim jacket over her bright yellow dress.
"This is Jayden. Jayden Walker." she points at the guy who previously sat next to her.
He was tapping on his phone, apparently too busy to look up, until Ash had called out his name.
At which he did look up, made too direct of an eye contact, ran his hand through his hair and nodded.
He was dressed in a black T-shirt under his black leather jacket, his dark brown hair complimenting his blue eyes. It was when he stared into my soul for two seconds or so that I had noticed the deep blue in his eyes.
He even had a perfect jawline. At this point he was a total stranger to me. Someone I couldn't care less about.
The same mindset didn't last long.
For little did I know, that he would be a major protagonist of my story...This story.
