"Dude, I can't believe school's almost out," I sigh to Sabrina. It's lunch and we're hiding out in the library all for the sake of staying cool. Nearly a hundred degrees outside, can you believe that? Sabrina and I lean against the bookshelves almost exhausted-like. It's a little painful to see her in her thin tank top with her smooth collarbone all exposed and teasing.

She catches me staring and smirks. "What will you do when you can't see me everyday, I wonder."

I scoff. "I'll just be that annoying girlfriend that texts you nonstop and shows up at your house with flowers and ice packs." She laughs and shakes her head at me.

"Ice packs?" She snorts, "Of all things, why that?"

"Because I'll be hot and you'll be hot and, like, heat stroke just isn't really a trend right now, you feel me?"

"You can't bring a fan?"

I make a face and go, "You want me to skateboard from my house to yours with flowers and a fan. Really?"

"Yeah, and a big fan too, because, you know, I will be hot." Now we're both laughing.

"You know maybe I'll just drive to your house instead. It's so much easier than having to carrying everything with only two arms," I grin.

"But you also get a nice tan on your legs when you go skating," she nudges me with her elbow, her own face glowing from a smile.

"The possibilities are endless." We crack up. Sabrina is smiling with her eyes now and she's looking at me in that guarded-but-longing way. 'Course the only proper thing to do is to kiss the girl, so I do. Our lips stack onto each other's like puzzle pieces. It's a soft kiss, almost a shy one. My breath is a little shaky when I pull away.

"Hi," a guy says from the far end of the book aisle we're in. Its Jacob, tall and brooding with his sharp platinum hair.

"Oh hey man, haven't seen you in a while." I take note of the nervousness that is glued to his face. He moves his bangs out of his face and shifts the weight back and forth between his feet.

"Have you seen Shannon? I kinda need to talk to her," he says.

"Everything okay?" I raise a brow.

Jacob shrugs and tries to smile. "I just need to talk to Shannon, no big deal."

I tell him where she might be and he lumbers away. Sabrina relaxes next to me and suddenly I'm wondering if she even likes my friends. I mean, I don't really like hers too much, but I don't really know them either. But what if she doesn't like mine? Would that be a big deal? If we like each other but not each other's friends?

"Aww," Sabrina presses against my side. I give her a confused look, and she tells me the bell rang. I help her up, trying not to be too obvious that I'm checking her out.

The outside heat blasts against us once we step outside and we're instantly sweating. I'm not even ten feet from my next class and I'm pretty much dying.

"See you later," I push back my bangs and the sweat makes it stay back. Good lord I feel like someone threw a heater and a wool blanket on me. I start going to class but Sabrina catches my hand.

"I think you forgot something?" She smiles up at me innocently.

"Wha...? Oh right, yeah!" When I kiss her it's like the weather doesn't even bother me anymore. I could just stand here forever with her hand in mine and her lips on my lips. It's not a hard kiss, or anything too passionate, but it's there, being received and given. It's the kind of kiss that can send a shiver down your spine, even in nearly 100 degree weather.
