I was spending my weekend relaxing with Logan, "did I tell you I hate school so much." He laughs, "I believe you have mentioned it more then once." I sigh, "I'm sorry. It's just what the Jenny girl really got into my head. You know, about my designs being horrible and never making it. I know she was wrong and I should just be confident but I can't help it, you know?" He shakes his head, "don't listen to her, she is going to eat her words one day when she's doing some boring job and you're living your dream."
Just then my phone rings, "hello? Is this Christina Gilmore we're speaking to?" "yes, this is she. I'm sorry who is this?" "My name is Sandra Woodson and I am a writer for the magazine 'Teen Vogue' We saw some of your designs and were hoping you could do an article for us and let our models modal some of your clothes and share your story." My eyes widen in shock, "are you serious? Wow, yes I would love to do that." "wonderful, I will call you back with the details." After saying bye I turn to Logan with wide eyes, "'Teen Vogue' wants to do an article on me." He smiles, "that's great. When is it." I shrug, "she gonna call with the details."
Later that day I call my mom with the news, "hun, that is amazing. I am so proud of you, you have no idea how big my smile is right now." "I just can't believe it. I keep expecting to wake up and this all to be a dream. I mean how did they even see my work?" "Well don't Yale post the fashion shows online and then there was the record of your internship. My daughter is going to be famous. So are you going to tell Grandma and Grandpa?" "I was going to, so they can read it and find out from me. Do you think it's a good idea." "They will be over the moon. I'm really proud of you and I can't wait to read it."
It was now Sunday and me and Logan were having coffee and he asks, "so, did you tell your grandparents yet?" I shake my head, "no, I didn't. I don't want to call them and then for them brush it off and then tell me something amazing about Rory." He takes my hand, "they won't you need to have more confidence in yourself. How many times have people said you could never get this far? Did you give up? No you prove them wrong everyday. Your so called perfect sister gave up the minute someone told her to. You're a fighter not a quitter never forget that, it's one of the many reasons why I love you." I nod, "you're right, I'll call them right now."
"hello?" "Hey grandpa, can you and grandma go on the speaker in your office. I have something important to tell you." "of course. Hold on." I wait a moment before I hear grandma say, "we're here. So what did you want to tell us?" I take a deep breath and tell them, "I got a phone call the other day, 'Teen Vogue' want to do an article on me for their up and comer section." Grandpa then says, "Oh, that is great news Christina we are so proud of you." Grandma then adds on, "yes we are. You and Rory have grown up so much. Did you know Rory is single handily running a DAR party, how amazing is that. I'm sure we could fit you in at our table." My face falls and I say, "I don't think I can, but I'll let you get back to your ideal granddaughter. Seeing as my achievements are so small in your eyes, it's nice to know somethings never change." I then hang and Logan squeezes my hand in comfort.
I am now sat with Sandra in the Dragonfly Inn doing my interview, "so Christina, why did you pick this place?" I look around with a smile, "my mom owns this inn, it just feels like home and please do call me Chris. My full name sounds so formal." She nods, "of course. So is family an important part of your life?" I laugh, "I guess it is. Me and my family have had many up and downs. Let's just say there is never a dull day in the Gilmore family." Sandra laughs, "I know what you mean by that, my family is the same. So I heard you transferred to Chilton in the middle of the school year? How was that." I smile at the memory, "it was as drama and joy filled as the rest of my life. Chilton is a very competitive school, I actually joined with my twin sister. I made more friends on my first day and she ended up making more enemies by trying to prove herself."
"So you were more of the kinder sister." I laugh, "God, I don't think anyone has ever called me that. No my sister has always been more of the innocent one and I was more of the rebellious teen. We do clash a lot because of that. I'm actually still friends with the people I met whilst at Chilton and they have turned into more of a second family then anything. I'm actually dating one of them." She sips on her tea, "ooh, and who is the lucky gentlemen." I smile, "Logan Huntzberger. I don't think I could have asked for more of a supportive boyfriend." Just then the waiter came over and we ordered our food.
As the waiter left Sandra asked, "so what inspired you to take up fashion?" I look over to the sitting area behind us and say, "that women over there, my mom. When we were growing up we started with nothing and she had to make our Babygro's from her old tops and she fell in love with it she inspired me to try it and I fell in love as well. My mom is one of my biggest inspirations and nothing will change my mind." Sandra nods, "is it okay for me to meet this amazing women?" I turn around, "Mom! Come here!" Mom walks over, "is everything alright?" I nod, "it's all perfect, Sandra wanted to meet my biggest inspiration." Sandra shakes her hand, "nice to meet you, this place is amazing. Would you like to join us?" She shake her head, "I couldn't, this shouldn't be about me. As much as she claims it's because of me she loves fashion, all I did was show her how to turn the machine on. It was great meeting you but I need to get back to work."
As she leaves I say, "she's just being modest, my mom is like superwomen. She might mess up sometimes but she always makes it right in the end, no matter what." The food then comes as Sandra takes her first bite she says, "this is the best chicken I have ever tasted." I smirk, "that would be Sookie, now she is the auntie I never had. This whole town is like one big family, I guess you could say in reality I have three families over all. No matter where I go or what I do I will always find my way back here. I will always be in that dance studio to help my dance teacher the Queen herself Miss Patty, and I will always go to Luke's the coffee place to annoy Luke, who is like my second dad. I will always go visit my neighbours' house Babette and Morey and have some of Babette's coco and play with their cat."
Sandra smiles, "this town sounds like a close group of people." I nod, "it really is, I think I must know every person in this town." "So you spoke about dance, didn't you and your best friend Noah win dance Nationals two years ago. Now that is something, tell me about that." I smile, "it was great, however it was also the day my dad's girlfriend at the time now ex-wife gave birth to my half-sister GG so my mom and sister couldn't make it. Other then that it was amazing." The waiter comes and takes our plates away and Sandra then asks, "so your mom and dad are not together? Do you still see your dad a lot." I nod, "we have our weekly calls and he visits when he can, he is still getting a handle of the single parent thing. Although my mom is actually dating Luke the diner guy I told you about, they're engaged. I mean it took them way too long if you ask me." We spent the rest of the lunch just talking about my fashion and then what outfits I picked and when the photoshoot is and when the article will be out.
A/N: Hey guys, so I didn't know how to add Chris to this episode so I did this instead. I hope you like it and the idea of the article. Tell me what you think and what you want to see.
Xoxo Maddie.
