Hello

Sorry it's been a while, I can't seem to think of any good ideas lately.

This wasn't the story I was planning on posting, but I found it in my notes today, half finished, and thought well, why not, because we all need a fanfic about people being accepting and not judging you and feeling safe and actually happy for once *sighs*. Wow that was a long sentence with a lot of feelings in it... Anyway, I hope you enjoy this, I actually wrote something a bit happy for once (wowww no wayyyy), stay safe, have a nice day and I'll see ya round :D - cornflakecat

The Doctor, Ryan, Yaz and Graham were all standing next around the console room, Graham and Ryan chatting to the Doctor about something to do with a planet called Barcelona, the Doctor practically vibrating with excitement. Yaz stood slightly further away, biting her lip, watching them but not really listening. The Doctor had run to the side of the console furthest away from Yaz then stopped, hand hovering over a dial as she took in the expression on her friends face, the way she was wringing her hands nervously and glancing about.

"Yaz?" she asks tentatively. "Are you ok? What's wrong?"

"Um... Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. There's just-" Yaz pauses, taking a deep breath, trying to keep her voice steady. "There's something that I need to tell you." she finishes, slightly louder than before.

Ryan and Graham stop their conversation and turn to look her.

"Of course cockle. What is it?" Graham asks her.

"Your not leaving are you?" the Doctor blurts out, panic clear in her voice.

"No. No! Of course not! It's not bad, what I need to tell you. Or... I don't think it is... Um..." Yaz pauses, looking down at her suddenly incredibly interesting shoes, scared that if she looked up at the others she might just start crying. Her friends' smiles were encouraging, but Yaz knew from experience just how quickly those smiles could change.

Will they still be smiling when you tell them?

*Of course they will, they're my friends, they'll accept me, and anyway, their not like those people.*

And how do you know that? You've never spoken about it, have you, none of them have ever mentioned it before, and the Doctor is a completely different species from you, she's from another planet. How is she going to react?

*Well, if they can't accept me for who I am then I don't want to be around them!*

But you do, Yasmin. You always do. They're your best friends. Imagine life without the three of them. Life without the TARDIS...

*Oh, shut up, shut up!*

"Yaz? You alright mate?" Ryan's voice cuts through her thoughts. She has to tell them. She has to. Just get it over and done with.

*Just do it!*

"I wanted to tell you, I needed to tell you, that I'm- I'm bisexual." Yaz finally gets the words out, her voice sounding a lot braver than she felt, which was not at all. Looking up she expected the worst, expected them to look cross or upset or disappointed or to shout at her, to tell her she was wrong, that she was confused, that she was a mistake but instead she found her friends still smiling. In a matter of seconds the Doctor had run round the console and pulled her into a bone crushing hug.

"You're- ok with it?"

"Yasmin Khan of course we are!" the Doctor exclaims, stepping back.

"You think we'd be cross cockle?"

Yaz hesitates. "I guess not. I just... panicked, I suppose. It's not something that people are normally that excepting about."

The Doctor steps in front of Yaz and looks her in the eye.

"What people? What did they say to you?"

"Nothing. Just people. No one you know."

"Do I know them?" Ryan asks her. "D'you need me to talk to them cos I'd be more than happy to."

"No, it's fine." Yaz says, laughing quietly, then ducks her head to stop the tears from showing. But for the longest time, these are happy tears. Tears in her eyes because she feels safe and accepted and like nothing in the universe can touch her. She feels the Doctors arms around her again, this time Ryan and Graham joining in the hug.

And for once she feels that she can let those tears fall.
