*Third Person POV*

"Ohohoho," An old man laughed, the dark room around him reverberating the sound, "Interesting."

"What is, sir?" Keith said, pouring tea into a cup next to the old man's chair.

"Y/n, obviously!" The old man exclaimed, his face illuminated by the glow of the TV screen, "Look at him! With state of the art battling technology, he flops hard! But when he lets go and focuses on the battle, it's like his instincts take over and he's a completely different person!"

"Mhmm," Keith said, stirring a sugar cube into the tea, "He has natural talent."

"Yes, that's it," The old man said, taking the cup and sipping, "He gets it from his father."

"Of course," Keith observed, as Y/n tossed the million-pokedollar sunglasses over the edge of the boat, "Among other things."

The old man sighed, "Head strong and stubborn, his father was just the same. Though I can't say his mother was much better."

"But, one would say that Y/n is much more than the sum of his parts."

"That seems to be true," The old man took a long sip of his tea, "He is far greater than he appears. Far greater..."

Not far from the Vermilion City Gym, on the route east of the city, an Ekans was sent flying backwards as a bone club slammed into its face. The bone spun back into Cubone's hand, and the baby Pokemon did a short dance in victory.

"Good job Cubone!" Leaf cheered, lifting the baby ground type above her head, "You're getting so strong!"

"Cu-Cubone!"

Bulbasaur, Leaf, and Cubone spent a second basking in their victory, before continuing to move down the route. Leaf's new strategy of training had been specifically tuned to Cubone, and had been working perfectly. He was now much stronger than he had been during the S.S. Anne tournament.

As they began to walk towards the ocean on the other side of the route, Leaf was still fuming over Y/n and Grady. She couldn't really explain what made her so angry, but she couldn't bring herself to forgive them. She didn't want to be questioned, especially not about her sister.

She let out an angry grunt, stomping the ground a little harder, "Wait until sis hears about this..."

She stomped off towards the ocean, the sun setting in front of her as Y/n won the Vermilion City Gym badge.
