~REN~
Apartment 606 was just as empty as it had been when I found Evie there. There was no new evidence of anyone having been back here and the only smell was the lingering one from Evie. It was sickly. And with the smell I could only be flooded with thoughts of her.
She was right; I always ran away from my problems and fears. But the ironic thing was that right now I wasn't running. I was facing my problems head on. If I did anything before I turned into a wolf, I wanted it to be helping her out. Whatever the deal was with her powers being taken, I wanted to know what it was about.
I wanted to know she was safe.
I didn't have a lot of people to care about these days. The relationship I had with my family was pretty one sided and lonely, plus there was nothing I could do for them anymore.
But with Evie... It was something different. And I could help her.
For once in my life I had the ability to help someone that I cared about. I couldn't just pass that up.
I thoroughly scanned the apartment but came up empty handed. I didn’t know what I expected to find, but at the very least I wanted to know who the place belonged to, if anyone.
After a second unsuccessful scan of the apartment I changed tactics and headed over to apartment 605 instead. I wrapped my fingers on the door and waited for an answer. I could hear shuffling about as the occupant of the room rushed around to the door.
A beautiful, tall brunette woman answered the door. She took me in and then frowned.
"I thought you were my pizza."
"I'm sorry." I shrugged.
She sighed and leant against the doorframe, a flirtatious smile playing on her lips.
"You're too cute for a pizza boy, anyway." She said from beneath her eyelashes.
"Good thing I don’t come bearing pizza, then." I grinned.
"It is. Because you also smell like dog. So what do you want non-pizza guy?"
My face fell. I hated being told I smelt like a dog.
"It's an occupational hazard." I lied. "Anyway I was hoping I could ask you a question or two."
"We'll make it quick because-"
"Because you're waiting on pizza, right?"
She flashed a small smile again.
"Yeah, that's the one."
"I was just hoping that you could enlighten me as to who lives there?" I pointed to apartment 606. She peered her head around the corner to follow the direction of my finger.
She shrugged.
"They moved in long before I did. I've never had a problem with them so I've never had a reason to approach them."
"So it's pretty quiet, then?"
"Usually. Just lately there’s been a few people going in and out a bit. But no major noise... Are you looking to move into apartment 608? This is a good floor to be on. We’re a pretty quiet bunch, yeah."
I had no idea that apartment 608 was available, but it seemed like a good excuse to be asking about the apartment like this.
"Something like that." I said. "It's good to know."
"Well… I better go. But, well, if you do get the place maybe you could stop by one night so that we could have pizza together." She smiled suggestively.
