DEMI'S POV
"Road trippin' with my two favorite allies!" Harry and I belted out with the stereo simultaneously, not giving a damn about how unsynchronized we sounded.
We were already on the road, driving to who-knows-where... Well, okay, Harry knows where it is but he won't tell me, so our destination still remains a big mystery to me. But honestly, I don't really care anymore; just as long as its somewhere far from home and from everybody else -Mum, Nick, Autumn, and Officer James- I just need to get away from all of them.
I was feeling better now, considering Harry was seemingly trying his best to cheer me up by belting out random jokes here and there and pulling out topic after topic just to get me preoccupied.
Truth be told, the whole Nick thing slipped from my thoughts the time we were driving to the police station. But the moment I saw Officer James with a deep scowl on his face, I knew my day was yet to get worse. He was furious at us to say the least. We showed up at the police station a quarter before ten o'clock and I swear, I've never seen Officer James so mad before, there was literally smoke coming out of his ears.
And when I thought I already had garnered enough crap from home that morning, Officer James added to the list and totally went apeshit on us. He went on a tongue-lash frenzy and gave us an hour extension for our 'ignorance' and 'lack of panctuality'. Harry and I tried reasoning with him but he wasn't having it. So, with no other choice, we worked extra time and didn't finish 'til six-thirty. The sun had just finished setting when Officer James decided to finally let us leave. And now here we were, driving our way out of town with the stars above us and the dark, empty road before us.
"Fully loaded, we've got stacks and supplies," We continued singing while the Red Hot Chili Peppers echoed throughout the car. "Oh wait, we don't. we still, we still need to buy." Harry added feeling the song a little too much, trying to be clever by replacing the the words of the song with faulty lyrics.
I instantly bursted into a belly laugh, my cheeks heating up as I do, "Harry!"
"What?" He chortled from the driver's seat, taking a quick moment from staring at the road to glance at me and diverting his gaze back to the road again.
"That was such a lame attempt!" I struggled saying in between laughs. Harry seems to be alot of things, but he surely isn't a good comedian.
"Me? Lame?" He gasped, putting his left palm flat on his chest as he tried to look offended, while the other hand remained on the stirring wheel. "And I thought that was a knee-slapper. You laughed so hard," He added, the tone of his voice mocking sadness.
I gradually went down from my hysterical high, lightly chuckling as I wiped the single tear that managed to spill from eye. "I laughed 'cause you actually thought your joke was funny."
"It is funny!" He defended, pouting his lips as he maneuvered the stirring wheel.
"Harry, it was so unhumorous, I laughed at how corny it was." I argued further.
"Well that hurts," He clenched his chest exaggeratedly, scrunching his face in, what it seems to be, hurt. "You don't hold back on your opinions, don't you?" He stated as he made a turn.
