I was at a sleepover. A sleepover that I did not want to attend. I was practically dragged out of my house an hour ago by one of my friends as another grabbed some clothes for me before helping our other friend drag me out of the house. Another friend was outside in the car waiting for us.
Now after getting as much junk food as we could carry and spreading it around the basement floor.
"How about we watch a scary movie," Gwen spoke up.
"We could go to the haunted and abandoned farm house in the woods," Hannah suggested.
"Ew, do we want to go hiking through the woods at night?" Hayley whined.
"I guess not," Hannah sighed.
"What if we summon something here?" Hannah asked.
"You actually want to summon a ghost here?" I asked. I couldn't believe my ears. Ever since I was young, my mom would tell me stories of ghosts. She would warn me to be wary of things from the other side. And since then, I've never read or heard scary stories, watched scary stories, or go to fake haunted houses.
"Come on, be a little adventurous for once in your life," Hayley laughed.
"Do you even know how to summon a ghost?" I asked.
"Oujia board?" Gewn asked.
"No, like candles, a pentagram, blood, and salt," Hannah said.
"Blood? You're not supposed to use blood in rituals," I shrieked at my friends.
"It's not like it's real," Gwen rolled her eyes. "I'll go get the candles and salt."
She walked up the basement steps leaving me with Hayley and Hannah.
"Why are you so scared of ghosts?" Hannah asked. "You know they're not real right? And we can't really summon one right?"
"You just don't know what's out there after we die. Ghosts could be real and so could demons."
"And so could angels and God," Hayley said. "But there's just no way of knowing."
"So do you guys believe? In ghosts and stuff?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, something has to be out there, right?" Hannah said.
"I would like to, but I've never seen anything," Hayley shrugged.
"Do you believe?" Gwen asked as she walked up to us and sat back down.
"Of course I do. And I don't think they should be messed with," I told them.
"Whatever. Nothing's going to happen," Gwen said as she set up the stuff.
She made a pentagram out of salt and put the mismatched candles at the tips of the star and lit them. She then pulled out a knife.
"You seriously brought a kitchen knife?" Hayley giggled.
"It's the only knife I could find," Gwen defended herself.
"What the hell are we supposed to do with it?" I asked.
"Just do a little cut in your finger," Gwen said. "Then put a drop of blood in each lit candle."
"Spooky," Hannah said in a scary tone.
"Oh, first I have to turn off the lights," Gwen said. She rushed over to the light switch and turned the lights off. The only light came from the candles.
"Now can we do the blood thing?" Hayley asked.
She said yes and my friends passed the knife around, giving it to me last. I took it and looked at my friends. They were already putting blood on the candles.
