Kuroo and Kenma pulled up, making casual small talk on their way to dinner. Nothing seeming out of the ordinary, they both mindlessly choose the nearest restaurant, which happened to be a more quiet corner of the campus.
As they took their seat at one of the small tables, Kuroo was thinking about the awkward moment they had earlier outside the dorm room. Did Kenma feel the same way about Kuroo that he felt about Kenma? Kuroo thought that it was probably just a coincidence, or maybe Kenma being uncomfortable in Kuroo's grasp. Whatever that moment was, Kuroo was more than ok with that closeness, but he wanted Kenma to be as comfortable as possible.
Kenma seemed more shy than usual, but still had the slight pout that he always had around Kuroo. Everything seemed so... normal. Kuroo and Kenma hadn't been out to dinner like this in what seemed like an eternity, an eternity without the comforting feeling of eating a special meal with your very best friend.
Talking about college and other important nothings, the two of them each ordered their meals and kept on talking, their conversation full of laughs, teasing, and most importantly a fuming Kenma. Kuroo and Kenma just started to get to a totally different question, their college relationships.
Kuroo, not really knowing as much about Kenma's social life as he once had, half jokingly asked him "Well, did u finally get yourself a girlfriend?" Kenma paused.
"Kuroo-san... I thought you knew I'm uh- not really into that type."
Confused, Kuroo just said "What do you mean? What's not your type??"
"Kuroo you're so stupid, you're really gonna make me say it aren't you. I'm gay dumbass, I thought you already knew I mean it's pretty obvious."
Completely taken aback, Kuroo just let out an awkward "OH" and started tripping over his own thoughts, did he really have a chance?
"You don't have to act so shocked, it's not like I'm pregnant or something. Well, what about you Kuroo? Have you been into any girls recently?" Kenma said, teasing Kuroo for his abrupt behavior.
"Um- well there's one person I have in mind but they will never like me back so it's whatever, don't worry about it." Kuroo said, definitely having Kenma in mind. Hopefully it wasn't too obvious, Kenma was far from dumb and Kuroo was very flustered after Kenma's out of the blue coming out.
Kenma looked like he wanted to say something in response, but he stopped himself and just said "Ok" blandly, not giving Kuroo any hints of what he was going to say.

Later that night, Kuroo and Kenma went back to Kenma's dorm to just chill and flip through the TV while sitting on Kenma's bed, shoulders touching side by side. They got back to their random conversations, since they were friends for so long they could really talk about anything with ease.
Eventually, the topic of how college was for each of them came up. Kuroo ended up being a chemistry major, while Kenma was a computer science major. Since Kuroo already knew so much about chemistry before college, he was really doing well, he especially loved working in the campus chemistry lab. For Kenma, it seemed he was having more issues as he had to learn many coding languages, along with how to structure a business model. It was his dream to create a company one day for computers and games.
"To be honest, college is just hard nowadays. All I really do is sit in that chair right over there in this room that I stay in all day and do homework. I also have to keep up with my League ranking so there really isn't any time for me to get out anymore. Going to lecture halls in the mornings for my classes is also just as hard because I have to wake up so early after working so late, everything about college is just so difficult for me."
Kenma's rant almost surprised Kuroo, he hadn't really talked like that since they met up that day. Even if he was mad, at least he had the means to talk about it, right?
"Kenma, I'm really sorry that your college life has been so hard, I wish I could help you out on some way. I don't want to distract you, but it's not healthy for you to be alone here every day."
"Hey Kuroo... can you maybe come over like this... every day? I don't want to force you but if you want-"
"Of course I will Kenma! You just have to say the words and I'll be here for you, forever and always." Kuroo's urge to say a simple "I love you" was very strong a that moment. That's all that Kuroo really wanted to say at that time, he just wanted Kenma to really know he loved him, as more than just a friend.
"Thank you, Kuroo-san." Kenma said with a blushing and smiling face.
