Ever since Kuroo moved into the hospital full time, Kenma's room felt... empty. All of the time he was without Kuroo, he was slowly falling back into his old depressive state. The best part of his days were spent in a hospital comforting Kuroo and watching old sci-fi movies while cuddling with him in his uncomfortable bed.

The hours he spent with Kuroo helped him forget everything terrible. The scent of the hospital had become oddly comforting. Kuroo's room didn't have much medical supplies in it, unlike the rooms around them with more severe cases. All he had was a ventilator to help his breathing and doctors checked on him often to make sure there wasn't too much liquid in his lungs, if he got pneumonia it could be lethal.

Apart from those few things, cuddling with Kuroo wasn't too difficult, once they got comfortable they could just lay in that same unmoving position for majority of the time they were together, which was a good way to just enjoy each other's presence.

After about a week of visiting Kuroo, Kenma walks into the hospital for his daily visit on a Friday after he finished schoolwork. When he arrived, he was about to go straight to Kuroo's room like he did every day. The receptionist, who knew by this time that they were dating, as did most of the nurses who saw them together stopped him.

"Hey Kenma, Kuroo got moved to a new room today, I think they are trying some new treatment. Nothing too major, he just had to be moved to a different section of the hospital."

"Ok, thanks. Can you maybe help me get there? I don't really know my way around this hospital yet."

"For sure! It's not too far, I'll take you there."

"Thanks."

She led Kenma through some hallways, he made mental note of the way there so he wouldn't have to go through this again, he wanted to spend as much time with Kuroo as he could.

When he gets there, the first thing he notices is Kuroo has an IV drip next to him and a line going from the bag into his arm. He had never had one of these before, is something really wrong? Kenma was already worried. When he walked in the room, directly next to him was Bokuto, standing by the door in a place you couldn't see through the windows.

"Hey Kenma, I didn't know you were coming today, how are you?"

"Hi Bokuto, I haven't seen you in quite a while. I'm fine. What about you?"

"I'm doing pretty well, just visiting my friend here."

The air in the room was tense, like there was something going on between Bokuto and Kenma. Kuroo recognized this, and tried to lighten the mood.

"Hey Kenma, I missed you! Bokuto was just here to check on me, I think he was actually on his way out."

"Yeah, I was just leaving but it's nice to see you Kenma! I wish I could stay for longer but there's a volleyball game I have to go to, I hope you have a nice visit, bye!"

Bokuto left with no reply from Kenma.

"Kenma baby, is there something wrong? You were acting kinda weird with Bokuto."

"Everything is ok, it's just, I'm really worried about you. Are you ok?"

"I'm fine, I'm better now that you're hear though sweetheart."

"God dammit Kuroo, you're so annoying, how do I love you so much."

Without saying anything more, Kenma curls up into Kuroo's arm that isn't connected to the IV drip and rested his head in the crook of Kuroo's neck.

When Kuroo looked down at Kenma, he saw tears streaming down his face.

"Kenma?? You're definitely not just fine, what's wrong? You can tell me, please baby I'm here for you."

Between sobs, Kenma finally told Kuroo what happened.

"Well, I know this is stupid and petty and dumb but- uh- this is the first time Bokuto has visited you right?"

"Yeah, I haven't seen him in so long. What about it?"

"Well, I feel kinda weird about this being his first time checking up on you. You used to see each other all the time before you were- well- here, and since you haven't been able to get out as much, he hasn't even spoken to you until today. Don't you think that's a little weird? I'm sorry this is just dumb I should drop it."

"Oh, Kenma. Not everyone is as loving and caring for me as you are. It might be weird to you that he hasn't really visited much, but think about it. You come here all the time, you always see me. Even today, you went out of your way to come to a different room, it must have been a lot of trouble for you. Thank you for being the best boyfriend, without you, I don't know what I would do. I would be so lost, I love you so much."

"Kuroo, you have no need to thank me. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, without you I might not even be here today. You are the reason I wake up in the morning, I should be the one thanking you dumbass. I love you too."

After that much needed conversation, they just cuddled and talked about Kenma's day, as well as Kuroo's eventful moving day. It was nice for both of them to just have a conversation, like they always did.

It is one thing to enjoy each others company, but another to be so hopelessly connected and in love, like they are another part of you.
