Upon reaching his apartment, Ji-Pyeong's first instinct was to call Dal-Mi and ask of she was doing okay. But stopped himself. She needed some time to herself to sort things out in her head.

He decided to call Grandma instead.

She picked up on the third ring.

"Ji-Pyeong-ah," she said into the phone, her voice hinting tears in her eyes

"Ji-Pyeong-ah," she said into the phone, her voice hinting tears in her eyes. "Did you really tell Dal-Mi about the letters?"

Ji-Pyeong sighed. "Yes, halmoni. I had to. She saw me at Seonju at the spot where we used to share our letters."

"She won't stop crying," Grandma said, placing her palm over her mouth to stop shivering.

Ji-Pyeong felt a pang of pain in his heart. He never wanted this to happen. Neither did grandma. Both of them wanted only one thing. To make Dal-Mi happy. However, the truth hurts more than a lie sometimes.

"I'm really sorry, halmoni. I had no choice. She already knew."

Grandma nodded

Grandma nodded. "I know, Ji-Pyeong-ah. It's not your fault. I shouldn't have started this lie in the first. I wish I knew how much toll it would take in her life."

"Please don't blame yourself," he assured her. "You only wanted to see your grand-daughter smile. It's not a crime."

"I'll make sure to tell her everything so you don't have to worry." She said. "I will clean up the mess I created."
