Author's Note: A Bonus chapter has been added in my Patreon account. I have also started adding chapters from my new original story on the go.
There's also something I wanted to ask you guys. I know this is a fanfiction, but does it mean someone can copy my entire idea of making it an alternate storyline from the exact point where I started? A story surfaced on my feed with the same description, starting from the point where Dal-mi found Ji-pyeong reading her letter.
I am new to the fanfic world, so I am not aware of the rules yet. If any of you are aware of it, please let me know.
I'll let you get back to the story now. Happy reading.
*************
The ransomware attack was resolved by the security team of SH Venture Capital. From the session log, they found an external IP address registered under an alias. They had accessed their systems remotely through an open port and had executed a file that contained the virus. The identity of the hackers were still unknown but there was a strong possibility of them getting caught.
The police were called in and everything was restored to normal for Cheongmyeong Company. It was already one a.m. when everyone decided to head back home tired and sleepy. A yawn from one person fired a ripple effect making everyone yawn simultaneously.
Dal-mi sat in her chair, playing with her I.D. card as she waited for the drivers to load.
"Are you staying here all night?" In-jae asked Dal-Mi, the only ones left in the room.
"I'll leave once the backup is complete," she said, her eyes fixed on the screen.
"It's set to shut off automatically once done," In-jae added, continuing to insert her belongings inside her handbag. "Besides, it'll take two to three hours to sync everything."
"It's okay. I'll stay," Dal-Mi told her, giving her a small smile. "Please go ahead. I am waiting for Ji-Pyeong-sshi, I mean, Director. Han."
In-Jae chuckled slightly. "You can speak informally in front of me. I know you guys have been dating for a year now."
"Ah." Dal-Mi realized she never really discussed her personal life with her sister anymore. When they were younger and still living together, she would share everything with her. Their everyday topics didn't include boys because In-jae had grown tired of listening to the same confessions every day.
She was the angel who got noticed no matter where she went, lighting up every dark corner. Boys would leave her love letters in the birdhouse near halmoni's shop which she used to toss away immediately after reading. Dal-mi always wondered if her sister like to play hard to get with them. She never really got the chance to ask after they grew apart.
While In-jae received all the letters from the boys who had a crush on her, Dal-mi had no one to truly express her feelings.
The day In-jae chose to follow their mother and leave their father for a rich man, that was the day she lost everything. She remembered crying every second of every day and wishing it was all just a bad dream.
The music box was broken and the notes lost in the wind.
Then it returned again in form of a single letter that made her heart fill with joy. It was so beautifully written that she forgot all her sorrows, all her pain and dove into a sweet dream filled with hope. Ji-Pyeong-shhi was the first guy that made her heart flutter like that. Even though it was just his handwriting that she recognized back then, she still felt a special bond between them.
