Samsan Tech had gathered around Alex and his colleagues with a contract in front of them. The air smelt stale of betrayal as he offered condolences to Dal-Mi and Sa-ha for firing them.
"This is fraud," Do-San said, his eyes burning with anger. "You said you'd take the entire team to San Francisco. How can you suddenly fire Ms. Seo and Ms. Park without any reason?"
"Nam Do-San sshi," Alex said, trying to calm him down. "The contract doesn't say so. Words really don't have much power."
Dal-Mi had stiffened in her seat, holding back her tears. She didn't want to show them how weak and demotivated she felt right now.
Do-San stood up angrily, his face showing the hurt he felt. This was his one chance to keep Dal-Mi by his side and now even that was taken away from him.
"It's very regrettable," Alex continued when no one else said anything. "I tried my best to persuade the headquarters, but it was beyond my ability."
"But Ms. Seo and Ms. Jung are the core of NoonGil," Chul-san explained. "We can't operate the service without them."
Alex heaved a sigh. "NoonGil doesn't need any further updates, so that'll be fine."
Dal-Mi looked at him realizing the fact that from the very beginning he was only interested in the technology Samsan Tech had to offer. He had recruited only the developers from the team, which meant even if this team hadn't qualified for investment, he would've still offered to take them alone to Silicon Valley.
"Are you really willing to continue with NoonGil?" she asked him, knowing his answer pretty well.
