Dal-Mi came back from her trip with Mr. Han with determination on her mind. She now knew what she lacked in. She now knew which road to take. She now knew not to repeat the same mistakes she made before. The reckoning was now.
It was already 2:30 AM by the time she showered and sat at her desk. She glanced at the picture they took on the first official day of Samsan Tech launch at Sandbox. She put the picture face down. That chapter of her life was already closed now. It was time for a new one.
Self-pity wasn't an option anymore.
She tied her hair back and started browsing for courses on business administration.
Halfway through the search, her phone buzzed beside her showing a message from Mr. Han.
Don't overwork yourself tonight and go to sleep. Whatever you're doing today, can be done tomorrow. Sweet dreams.
She smiled at that. It was so sweet of him to care about her health. Suddenly a memory hit her of a similar kind of message she got from Do-San the first time she texted him. Looking at Mr. Han's message now, she realized it was actually his words.
Feeling glad that she chose the right person, she texted him back.
She knew he'd be looking for opportunities for her to stay in Sandbox as well and find an alternative solution for NoonGil to work. She told him about halmoni's condition while they were returning home. She remembered him breaking into tears and telling he would do anything to bring back NoonGil service into the market.
Dal-Mi never knew how close he actually was with Mr. Han. He always acted indifferent towards showing his feelings, but with her, he was able to open up. He came into her house and halmoni and him had a hearty talk with each other. She didn't intend to eavesdrop but she couldn't help herself. Mr. Han's past was still a mystery to her.
Her eyes went to the letter he had given her during his confession. She hadn't had the courage to open it yet but now seemed like a good time as any.
Ji-Pyeong had his laptop open in bed, scrolling down for companies similar to 2STO that could possibly be interested in buying out NoonGil from them. When he heard of how halmoni was losing her eyesight, he just lost control. Emotions he hadn't let himself feel for years now came surfacing back.
