Chapter 7: Betrayal

"How can I do this?" thought Sodis.

He knew if he just told everyone now, it would cause chaos. Sodis then decided to tell them separately.

"Who would believe me?" he thought. After he heard a voice.

"Sodis?" the voice called out.

When he turned around, it was Luly. He thought he might just start here.

"Luly, I know this may be hard to believe but, the gods are planning to terminate the humans." Sodis said.

Luly had a confused look on her face.

"What does terminate mean?" asked Luly.

"It means they are going to kill the humans, we must stop them. Will you join me? If you do, you will have to betray the gods. We'll basically commit treason." Sodis explained.

"Sure!" Luly said with a cheerful tone.
"A-Are you sure?" asked Sodis.

"Yup!" Luly said once again with a cheerful tone.

Sodis then wondered if she knew what "treason" even meant.

That night Sodis and Luly went to a secluded area, taking the plans with them.

They kept suggesting ideas, however none of them seemed effective. Then they both heard a noise.

"Did someone hear us!?" Sodis said.

Luly then went to see what it was.

There was nothing.

"Probably just our imagination." Luly implied.

"No, we can't risk getting caught here, Luly get your things, we're leaving." Sodis declared.

Then they took off. However something bothered Sodis.

"How are the others going to know now?" Sodis wondered.

The next day the gods announced an important message to everyone on the base.

"Sodis and Luly are plotting betrayal against us, if you see them, you are to kill the traitors." the gods said.

Everyone was outraged.

"OUR LEADER BETRAYED US!?" the crowd yelled.

Then the gods attempted something to calm everyone down.

"Alyut will now the leader. His skills have the potential to vanquish this traitor. " the gods declared.

"How can we trust him, he is his brother." the crowd whispered.

"YOU WILL NOT QUESTION THE WILL OF THE GODS!" a voice yelled.

It was Rina.

The crowd was silent. No one dared to talk back. After all the commotion, Signas left the base. Zephyr quickly noticed that she was gone, but he found her just outside the base. Wondering where she could be going, he followed her. Hour after hour, mile after mile, it seemed like Signas would never stop.

"Where is she even going, better yet, who the hell would travel this far on foit!?" Zephyr said to himself.

He had been following her for miles.

A few moments later she stopped at a town. Signas then went inside an inn.

"Why would anyone travel this far for an inn!?" Zephyr was thinking.

He then gave up on trying to think of an idea why she did and just followed her.

Surprisingly, Sodis was there.

"Wait how did she track him down?" Zephyr questioned.

"Zephyr?" a voice called out.

It was Luly. He remembered what he was supposed to do but he couldn't bring himself to kill them.

"What was their reason?" he thought.

"I didn't expect you guys to find us." Sodis said.

"Wait, how did you find us?" Sodis asked.

"Smell." replied Signas.

Luly, Sodis and Zephyr were completely confused.

"What do you mean by that Signas?" asked Luly.

"I followed the scent of Sodis." Signas said.

Everyone still didn't get how she did it, but they just went with it.

"Why did you two decided to betray us?" asked Zephyr. We found plans indicating that the gods are going to destroy the humans.

"What!?" Zephyr exclaimed.

Sodis then showed it to him, but since Zephyr has never seen what god plans would look like, he was still unsure.

"Will you two join us in destroying the gods?" Sodis asked.

Signas agreed without a second thought. Zephyr on the other hand, still unsure, not knowing what to believe in, he declined.

"I have to find more information. All of this doesn't sound right." Zephyr said.

"However, I won't tell anyone about you guys." Zephyr added.

"That's fine, as long as you keep your word." Sodis said.

As he was about to leave he looked back and saw Luly with a miserable look.

Then he took off.
