Jessica's POV

After a few short moments, I was ready to give birth. Every five minutes, there were contractions. To sum it up, it was basically period cramps x367.5. Yeah, it hurts. I asked the nurse for an epidural, but she said it's too early. If i'm being honest, I don't know how epidurals work. I just know they are for making birth easier, according to the tv shows I watched. I can assure you that this pain hurts. That is actually the biggest understatement i've made in my life. Didn't I miscarry, though? What is going on? My thoughts are cut off by the nurse telling me we need an emergency C-Section.

Yikes.

Oh no oh no oh no oh no. This is not good.

(i don't know that much about a c section, but i'm pretty sure you're numb but awake, so i'll go with that)

Five hours later

Before I knew it, the baby was delivered. I didn't really feel anything, just a bit of pulling, but I was mostly numb from the waist down. The baby, no, my baby was taken by the nurse. I don't know much about being a mother, but I am going to commit my life to this, no, my baby.

A few moments later, the nurse walks in with my baby. He looks like an angel. I already am willing to trade my life for him in a heartbeat. You know, motherly instinct. The nurse hands me my baby. He is so beautiful. With his blue eyes and very little blonde hair, he is an amazing ray of light sent to me by the angels themselves. Once I hold him in my arms, I make a solemn promise: I'm never going to let anything happen to him. Anything.

"Any names in mind?" the nurse asks.

I think about it for a moment. Then suddenly, a name flashes in my mind. I don't know how or from where, but I do know this will be his name. It's as if the angels that sent him are communicating directly with me.

"Nicholas," I reply.
