The Test-2

Before I could figure the next two men came into the ground. Actually the term men will not suit them at all. They were more than that.
Two of them who were standing in front of me were two giants. Were they really giants or I was hallucinating? I didn’t know. So I took them as giants. They were almost seven feet tall and the same feet in width. My head was at the middle of their chest. They wore battle armor till their waist and their legs were shown off. I assumed that they will be slower than the previous soldier. When I saw the weapon they were carrying my heart skipped a beat and did a flip at the same time. They carried a hammer that was as large as me. The hammer was full of spikes as if the hammer was not enough to smash the opponents. Each spike was three times sharper than the teeth of the tiger that I had fought in the forest. Both of them looked at me and laughed at first. A little anger rised in me and it was also put out by the fear of the weapon. Then the fight started. Both the giants attacked in unison. For an instant I thought that they had only one brain for two bodies. There was one feet gap between them. I made a plan. This time I couldn’t use my hilt. I had to use my sword. Amazingly the two giants were slow enough as I had thought. They both raised their hammer. They tried to smash me between their hammer. But I passed through their weapon and into the gap between them. Before they could realize I was at the back of them. I stabbed the thigh of the giant standing on my right. The giant howled. The other giant turned but before he could turn fully I pierced his thigh. But this didn’t stop them from attacking. Actually this attack just annoyed them. Their speed increased. Their hammer and my sword met every single second. I didn’t know how much force my sword can bear. I was sure that soon it would break. I used that technique for the second time. By then the giants were leaking blood from both their thighs. I also had got marks. My shirt was torn. My face was bleeding severely. I became angry. I cannot defend for my whole lifetime. I had to kill these giants. I use that whole anger and charged at the right giant. Before he could realize what was happening I was on top of him. On the way up I had pierced his hand so hard that they were covered in blood. The second giant came to his aid and the giant I was sitting on was swaying his hands above his head so that he could catch me. But I struggled and at last I pierced the sword into his throat and then took it out. The whole place went silent. Even the second giant went silent. So I jumped towards him and pierced his heart into his chest. The sword tore his armor and went straight into his chest. I was almost hanging from the sword. Then I took out the sword. He stared at me in horror and fell. The crowd roared and cheered. But I didn’t care about it. Now certainly I needed rest. But the test was not over. So I couldn’t ask for rest.As if to increase my tiredness and fear, three horsemen came into the ground. Now I couldn’t control my fear.
“This is not fair, my lord. How can I fight three horsemen at once? At least I need my horse.” I blurted out.
“If you can’t fight then give up. But I will question Eva and punish her. I will punish her until she loses all the hope in you. Do you want to fight or run away like a coward? The choice is yours.” Now I had to choose from two choices. One was save my life and the other was save Eva. Definitely I had to choose the second choice which means I had to fight. But how? I didn’t know. Three horsemen versus a stupid, exhausted, single warrior. As to increase the difficulty of the test, every inch of the horsemen’s body was covered in armor. Their eyes were alone visible. I recalled a story from my history book. Once, King Akbar had to fight a man who was covered in armor. So he used his bow and arrow to strike the man in the eyes. But he had a bow and arrow. In another story, a small boy defeated a huge giant using a pellet bow to hit him in the forehead. But none of these helped. I remembered my own story. When Crimpson was chasing me I used stones to attack him. But there was no sand in that place. There was only sand… When my mind came across the word sand an idea flicked in me. So I said
“I will fight, my lord”
“Good. Then start the fight immediately.” When the horsemen heard these words they charged. I bent down and took some sand in my hands. When the first horsemen was a feet away I threw the sand straight into the horse’s eye. Anyone cannot withstand the irritation when sand goes into our eyes. So I got the exact result as I had expected. As soon as the sand touched the horse’s eye it jumped here and there. I just had to block the sphere the spear that the horse men threw in my direction. Finally the horse ran in the direction of the king, jumped over him and ran away, his rider trying to calm him down. So now only two horsemen were left and they were totally confused by my act. Actually the whole crowd, including the king, was confused. In a confused state the first horsemen charged at me. He lowered his spear at his side. I thought of disarming him. So I ducked his spear but not so lucky. The spear had cut my right shoulder a little deeper than all the cuts. But I had done my job. I slashed the horsemen’s hand and CLANG! The sound echoed but the spear was down. I took the spear and threw it at the third horsemen who was fully recovered and was now charging at me. I threw with such a force that the spear went straight to his chest, pierced the armor and went in. I was sure that the injury would not kill him, a little severe. The horseman fell from his horse and laid still. Now only one was left. I thought he would turn and run away. That’s what happens in movies, right? The hero kills all the enemy’s men and finally the last man tries to get away from the hero. This was also the same situation but the man did not run. He climbed down from his horse, took his weapon, a dagger, out and charged at me. I had not fought with a man using a dagger before. This man was an expert at it. He was too fast even though his armor reduced his speed. I was becoming slower by the minute. My wound on the right shoulder was burning with pain. I tried to ignore that pain but it only reduced my speed. I had to act fast. Somehow I got some room and I used it to disarm him and with the hilt I made a dint in the forehead and a harder one in the chest. He fainted. The crowd roared and cheered. They did not run in and lift me like the day they had done when I defeated Eva. Oh…wait. That’s not some other day. I had defeated her only this morning. It seemed days ago. So much had happened for one day. Then the king came in and stood in front of me.
“You fought well, boy but I’m not satisfied. You cannot use that sand technique in a war. If you bend down to take sand then you will never become straight again. Practice harder. Now go.” Then he turned and went. I stood there and stared at him in anger. I wanted to run and pierce him but I couldn’t. I was mad at him. I had fought six of his best men, including two giants and three horsemen. Using that sand technique was not my fault. If I had got my horse I would not have used it. I waited there until the whole crowd cleared. Then I picked up my weapons washed them in the river and then went back to the tent. I placed my weapons there and went to the infirmary to heal my cuts and to see Eva. As soon as I entered the infirmary all of them clapped their hands and went back to work. George came over to me and clapped on my shoulder and said
“Hey, you fought very well. I came at last when you were fighting the horsemen. Sorry I couldn’t come earlier. I had to make sure that Eva is fully healed.” All the appreciation I got had gone from my head and was fiilled with the thought of seeing Eva. So I asked
“Is Eva fully healed?”
“Yeah, almost, she’s a little exhausted. But the cuts are gone. If she takes some rest she’ll be normal. When I came to see you fight she asked me to take her with me. But she was not in proper condition for it. So I didn’t bring her. She was really worried about you. Right now she is waiting to see you in one piece.” All the pain in my body was gone. I went to the bed where I left her. She was sitting on the bed nervously tapping her feet on the floor. She looked totally normal, except a few wounds in her hand. As soon as she saw me she hugged me and said
“I knew it. I knew that you will pass that fight without me.” Then she let go of me and asked
“How did it go?”
“um… the soldiers liked it. But-uh- the king didn’t.”
“Okay. Leave it. I’ll talk to the king. You get yourself healed and go to the tent and take rest. Tomorrow you have to study a lot.” I found another free bed and sat there. A man came and healed me. When I was fully healed I went back to the tent. Eva was not there. I guessed she might’ve gone to meet the king. I lied down and fell asleep.
