Then we reached Sebastin’s base. On seeing the corpse of George in Adam’s hands all of them knelt to the ground and placed their weapons in front of them to pay respect.
“The war is over. Augustin is dead” Adam said plainly and went to the king’s tent. Sebastin also became very sad on seeing George.
“He didn’t even get to fight till death” Adam said as he sobbed.
“It is okay, Adam. Everything’s going to be alright. George died a hero” Elisa said. After that George was buried with proper rituals and practices. That night we stayed in the tents. Without George the tent was awfully silent. I tried to crack some jokes or speak something to lift the spirits of the others but no one was in a condition of listening. It was planned that the next morning all the soldiers including the king and the commanders were going back to the city. But I will be going back to my own century.
“Hey, Elisa? Can you come with me back to the future so that there would be no need for me to answer the question ‘Where is Maria?’ from my parents?”
“Okay, but how will come back?” she asked
“Let’s just say that we have found a new orphanage for you. I’m sure they’ll accept that” I said.
“Okay. I’ll come” she said and after that everyone went to sleep except me. How could I sleep? I mean I was going to return to my normal routine the next day. I never thought that I would like this place and this people so much that I felt like I never wanted to leave. The next morning I got up and breakfast with Adam, Elisa, William and Amelia. Adam was still feeling about George. After breakfast we went to the king’s tent and I had a last look at the king and went to an open ground to time travel. This time Adam did the chanting to open the portal.
“I’m going to miss you all” I said trying hard not to cry.
“Don’t worry Oliver. Elisa will teach you how to communicate from the future to the past when you reach your century. When I was about to step into the portal William said
“I want you to have this Oliver.” He gave the armor of their city with the emblem of the two headed sharks on it.
“But how can I take it to my century, William?”
“Don’t worry. It’ll look like clothes to your people. I have used some magic on them” he said. I got it and gave him a hug. Then Amelia and Adam gave me a hug.
“You are really a great warrior, Oliver” Adam said.
“Not without her.” I pointed to Elisa. Then we stepped into the portal and came back to my century. We exited the portal at the same place where I first met Elisa. The river soar ran thin and polluted nearby. There was heavy traffic moving on the bust road.
“You know, whenever I see this place, hereafter, it will make me remember these five days” I told her and then we went and crossed the road. Then we went into my street and to my home. I rang the bell. It was my mom who opened the door. When she saw us she gave us a hug and said
“Welcome back, both of you. Come on. Let’s talk inside.” We went to the hall and my dad was there. We described a whole made up story o the tour we hadn’t gone. Then my mom prepared two glasses of lime juice and brought to us. Bruno came to me and placed his head on my thigh. I poured some lime juice on his tongue and thought ‘You are the reason for the last six days.’ Finally I said
“Mom we have found a decent orphanage for Maria. Just outside the city”
“Is that so?” my mom asked. Elisa nodded her head. Then I explained about the orphanage(a made up story) and finally my parents accepted.
“She will be departing this afternoon” I finished.
“Okay. Do you want me to drive you there?” my dad asked.
“No dad it’s fine. It’s just two or three kms away from here. I’ll go with her” I said and my father accepted that. Then after we were settled I said
“I’ll miss you so much.”
“Yeah me too” she said and there was an awful silence.
“At least you don’t need to be afraid of that Crimpson” she said
“Yeah, I’ve slayed warriors.” Then she taught me the communication from th future to the past. Then I said
“I want you to have this.” I gave her the black T-shirt and the jean that she wore when she first came to my home. She took it and we went down and had our lunch. I ate a little. My mom gave her two waterbottles and said
“You can come here anytime, sweetie. Take care and don’t get smashed by anyone.” Then we said our goodbyes and she patted Bruno. We went to the river bank.
“So, that’s it” I said.
“Yeah, we part ways here. However I kept my promise” she said and smiled. I was trying very hard not to cry but I couldn’t. I hugged her so tightly and sobbed in her shoulders.
“I’m gonna miss you.” She patted my back and ran her hands through my hair and said
“It’s okay Oliver. You know how to communicate with us.” Then I let her go and wiped my tears and gave her a smile. Then she opened the portal and entered it and waved her hand as the portal closed. I too waved my hand. Finally the portal closed and she was gone. I stood there for a while and wiped all my tears. I decided to visit Neilson as I had to pass the time of travelling three kilometers. I went to his home and asked him about how he managed all these days. He said how many times he had to tell my mother that he is good and well, how many photos he had sent and many more things. Then I told all my experience in the past. He was like ‘Whoa man, that’s so cool.’ He was totally terrified when I told him about the thigh injury I had got from William. I stayed in his house for an hour and then went back to my home. As I stepped into my home an idea hit me. I went straight to my room. I took a sheet of paper and copied the introduction part which I had written before all this happened and then I wrote all my experiences and the encounters in the past. I named the book as ‘The War Clock’ and published it and you are reading it.
THE END. It's over. Thank you for reading and voting and supporting.
