a/n: I'm trying to post everyday! I hope you guys enjoy this story so far! More notes at the end :)
y/n: your name
b/f/n: best friend name
I look around the room watching people gamble, it almost looked fun, but then again I already have video games. I don't need an addiction to gambling. I swivel around and bump into someone the second time that day. We both fall down and I see the short blonde girl from this morning, but now just wearing an orange hoodie, and playing a video game. "Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" I say standing up and offering a hand to her. "I told you not to make that mistake again." she practically growled, everyone was staring at you guys now "Even if you're new I already warned you once, was that not enough?! I'm Runa Yomozuki, from the student council." I could tell that she was trying to make me intimidated. "You have to have heard of the student council, the so-called best gamblers of the school?" Runa asked me looking confused that I wasn't reacting scared. I started giggling. By the way she was looking at me I knew she didn't think what was happening was funny at all. I kept giggling then looked her straight in the eyes and said, "Wanna test that theory?"
Runa's pov
That girl had a strange glint in her eyes, possibly excitement, and I knew I couldn't turn down a challenge. "Of course." I replied as people crowded around us whispering. I wasn't gonna cheat since I knew I could beat this girl, she's only a beginner after all, but there's something about the way she looks and talks that I just can't put my finger on, but I just need to focus on her every move, indicating what she will do. "If you're gonna gamble, what better place than this?" Kirari said walking over to me and y/n I think? "Sure. Are you gonna deal?" I ask Kirari. "Who else?" she said while rolling her eyes at me and leading us to an empty table.
I tore a lollipop out of it's wrapper and stuck it in my mouth. "Since she's a beginner shouldn't we do a more simple and easier to understand game?" I asked knowing I would have an easier time winning in that case. "Oh I don't mind. I'm not going to make winning any easier for you." Y/n said with a grin and a wink. "Ok well Itsuki Sumeragi here had an idea for a game. She can explain." Kirari said sidestepping allowing Itsuki to fill in her spot. "The game is called double memory. I have two decks of cards here and to determine who goes first you will both draw a card and who has the higher card gets to go first. But before you start you will obviously decide how much to bet. But when you start I will shuffle the cards and lay them on the table. It's like a normal game of memory from there. You pick up a card and try to match it. Whoever gets 52 matches first wins!" Itsuki said, clearly excited. "Wanna decide how much to bet?" Itsuki said grinning. "You can choose how much." I said smiling at y/n. "How about 50,000 yen?" she asked me. "Ok, should we start?" I ask y/n. "Gladly." she says already picking a card from the shuffled deck.
She gestures for me to do the same. I pull one out, getting a king. We show each other, and just to my luck she gets an ace and smiles slyly at me. I don't let this ruin my mood and gesture to Itsuki to start putting the cards on the table. She starts and gets a match her first turn. "Do I get to go again?" She asks Itsuki. Itsuki simply nods. She doesn't get another match but looks happy with herself. This goes on until she has 48 matches and I have 49. It's not much of an advantage point but it's something. It's y/n's turn and she is grinning from ear to ear. That could only mean one thing, she thinks she can win. I'm not too worried but I don't want my reputation gone so I keep looking at her every move hoping her body language tells me something. Sadly, it doesn't. She swiftly gets 4 matches, winning the game.
I'm surprised and I can tell Itsuki and Kirari are as well. The amount of money we betted wasn't much, so it won't even make a dent in the council's funds. The people surrounding us were gaping in awe at y/n and she was clearly confused. "What's wrong?" she said looking at everyone. "Well back to the money, I don't need it." she said and swiftly left the table. People were staring at her confused and whispering things like "Why would she turn down 50,000 yen?!" "How did she even win against a member of the student council?!" I rolled my eyes and left for the council room to get more candy.
Your pov
I knew that people would be whispering about why I didn't want the money or how I won against Runa, but it's their fault for underestimating me. It may have seemed like I knew nothing about gambling, but that was an act. I knew if people underestimated me, I'd win, I have always thought this. But when I came to this school I decided to leave gambling in the past, and I'm still going to try. That's why I didn't accept the money. But I don't want to end up a house pet. I have enough money from past gambles that I can pay any debt, but I don't think I'll need to anyways. I don't want to gamble unless I need to, or to help a friend which is what I'm planning on doing. I was still in the break room and I can tell people were still staring at me, so I brushed off the feeling and sat down at an empty seat at a poker table, they didn't start so why not play a round.
Long story short I won poker and got everyone's money, it wasn't a lot but it was good enough. Now to find b/f/n. I found her crying in a bathroom stall, if anyone could recognize her cry, it's me. She had transferred here a year ago, and she became a house pet her 3rd month here, and still is one. She only owed 90,000 yen, but didn't want to pay it in case her parents got suspicious, so I decided to pay it for her. I knocked on the stall and she unlocked it wiping her eyes. "Y/n..?" she stuttered before breaking down again, I hugged her and whispered "Hey, it's ok, I transferred 90,000 yen to your account so you can pay off your debt." I said as calmly as I could. She stopped sobbing and looked at me and then sobbed "Thank you so much your the best friend anyone could ever wish for." she sobbed into my shoulder. "No problem that's what friends are for." I told her as she calmed down and wiped her eyes. I led her to the bathroom sink and she splashed her face with warm water, and then ran off to pay her debt.
