Mel POV

All hell broke loose. I sat in a scarily calm manner in the darkness of the Red Room, as muffled panicked shouts and orders were yelled from outside.

Alfie's rushed voice suddenly crackled overhead, "Mel! You have to be quick, and you have to listen to me. You must of smashed the camera on the ceiling, so no one actually saw you shift. Everyone has gone crazy and its chaos. Lovac has been notified, and is on his way, I would hurry and try shift back if you haven't already, god knows what he's gonna do, he will probably think that you smashed it on purpose and-"

There was a loud crash and the speaker crackled and died, leaving a hissing static behind.

Somewhere inside my head, I was panicking, stumbling around in a crazed state, hyperventilating and mumbling crazy mumbo jumbo, but in reality, I was still kneeling calmly in panther form on the floor.

Something inside of me shoved that irrational and crazy side of me to the back of my head and replaced it with a calm version of it. A smart and devious self of me, formulating and testing plans unconsciously as I observed my surroundings. It was a sensible self, that listened and processed every word that had just been said to me, whilst analyzing it to test if it was true or not.

This clever self within, was respected by my crazy self, and space was made for her as she seemed to take over my body, knowing exactly what to do and what to say.

As I began to calm down and accept this new self, everything in my mind just clicked. It was like the feeling of when you find that last puzzle piece that was under the couch and finally putting it where it belongs. Everything just seemed to make more sense, and I knew that with new self firmly combined to my old self, I could withstand anything in my path.

I stood up and let her take over my mind as we leaped, shifting mid-air, and landing gracefully before the gown I had so carelessly tossed in the corner before. I put the gown on, whilst unconsciously picking up the sounds of panic outside. I then jogged silently over to the shattered glass in the middle of the room and ever so quietly, picked up a few pieces before scattering them right outside the door and then stepping to one side.

Leaning against the wall, I knew Lovac's men would silently open the door and step in the room with some sort of light to identify and blind me whilst being able to contain me without me even being able to put up a fight. It would be assumed that I was still in animal form, so they would Immediately look for an animal, not a human.

Little did they know that I had shifted, changed and moved, fully aware of the situation and what they were about to do. They would be confused to not 'see' me inside the room, as I would be standing behind the very door they would open, thus hiding myself from them.

Their stepping on the glass would startle them and I would use that vulnerability to then get an advantage over them. This was all thought through when I was kneeling on the floor, still in panther form.

I lent against the wall, listening to the sounds outside, trying to judge when they would come inside.

I was baffled at the speed and cleverness my new self worked at, and I had had almost no time to even process what I could possibly do before I had already done it.

The voices abruptly cut off and the light from outside clicked out. I immediately stepped forward, slightly away from the wall, lifting my arms slightly and bending my knees, preparing for action.

The door creaked open and a blaring beam of light was shined in, trying to locate me, but had no success.

The guard who was looking for me, stepped down into the room confusedly, wondering where I had got to. He stepped down into the room, stepping on the glass, making it crack loudly under his feet. He jumped surprised, and I used this chance to pounce.
