Chapter 3

Sonia's P.O.V.

I'm exhausted when I open the door.I'm tired of work,it's exhausting.However I put on a smile when my small little hedgehog comes running toward me.I scoop her up in my arms as her giggles fill my ears.

"How was my baby?"I ask her,holding her closely.

I close the door with my back as she squeals.

"Momma!"is how she replies.

I love her with all my heart;she's three now.Susie is my daughter,my only daughter since my ex boyfriend fled once I was pregnant.Pushing those thoughts aside,I brush the loose strands of pink quills with green ends back.She's so beautiful and small,I just adore her eyes.

"She was perfect as always."

I look up to see the babysitter,Fuchsia,smiling at me.I smile back before putting Susie down and digging through my purse for money.I pull out a twenty dollar bill and hand it to her.We say our goodbyes and she walks out the door.I pick up Fuchsia and smother her in kisses before walking into the kitchen.

It's always great to go home to my little sweetheart.I chuckle to myself as she squeals.

"You hungry?"I ask,grabbing a bowl from the cabinet.

She bobs her head happily,"Yes Pwease!"

I giggle as I pour Cheerios into the bowl,no milk,just dry cereal.I sit her in her high chair and place the bowl in front of her.While she eats I turn on the tv and grab the remote.I flip through the channels then flop on the sofa.Smiling,I listen to Susie hum to twinkle little star.But when she hums,I start to doze off slightly.

"And here they are!The Maniacs!"

I flinched at the sudden loud music,sending Susie to screech.I blinked repeatedly,watching the tv.A band was playing,something about the Maniacs or whatever.I watched as the band members were introduced,three in one band.The first one was some echidna named Mike with frizzy green dreadlocks.The next was a green bat named Miller with a red bandana wrapped around his head.

Then there was a green hedgehog named Manic.

I cringed slightly,I hate bands.They're too loud and too laid back.Being in a band isn't a career,it's just some hobby or whatever.I sigh heavily before searching for the remote I dropped when I dozed off.I skim my fingers under the sofa,wrapping my fingers around the remote when I felt it.Pulling it out,I look up at the tv to see the drummer,Manic,having his own little drum solo.

Hate to admit it but he was actually pretty good.One thing I didn't like was the way he lolled out his tongue,making the rocker sign with his hand once he was finished.The applause was outrageous and his cockiness was getting the better of him.Ugh just choke me now.Finally I changed the channel once I was tired of it.I heard Susie whine from the kitchen,I knew what the meant.I jumped up and hurried over to her.

I pulled her up and placed her on the ground.I smiled,watching her run to a pile of mail left on the ground.I think Fuchsia got it while I was working.Susie squealed in delight,picking up envelopes.Giggling,she waved around a flyer.I cocked my head before taking it from her small hands.I scanned over it,finding it to be that exact band that was playing on the tv.

Apparently they're having some concert next week and it's playing in some stadium just an hour or two away from where I live.
I sigh and start to crumble it up into a small ball.

"No!"yelled Susie,"Bad momma!"

I blinked,slowly smoothing it out.She waved her finger at me,furrowing her eyebrows.She then started jumped up,trying to snatch the flyer from my hands.

"Why sweetie?"

She just continued to try to snatch it,now whining.I sighed and handed it back to her.Susie grabbed it,cuddling it close to her chest.I just stared at her blankly,watching her holding it closely in her little hands.

"Manic,"she chirped,"My favorite."

Again,I was confused.She's three,why would some drummer be her favorite?I knew she was smart,but I didn't expect her to understand what a band was.Maybe she doesn't and all she likes is how he looks or something.I just ran my fingers through my quills,then turned back to the living room.However Susie started whimpering and tugging at my skirt.

"Go momma?We go?"she asked innocently.

Darn.How could I say no to that face.

"I um...Momma will think about it,"I finally say.

Susie jumps up and down,squealing.Then she starts running around living room.What did Fuchsia give her?I can't help but laugh at her,she's adorable and a ball of energy.But now I don't know what to do.I really hate concerts...I,however,love music.
I actually play a little music myself,I just don't like that band.I don't know why,I just don't.Especially that Manic guy,is he really a good influence on my child?

Or maybe that motherly instinct is just kicking in.Maybe I should actually try to give this band a chance.Just for my baby,just for her.I mean,what if I learn something new about him.Like something life changing.I scoff slightly,picking up the broom and sweeping up the dropped Cheerios.

Ya right,life changing.
