Today morning is just like every other day. But somehow I sense that I should wear something different today. It feels like I am going to meet someone today. I really have no idea why I am feeling like this but my instincts hardly fails me. So I think maybe I should go with my gut feeling.
I am reading the sequel "Fifty Shades Darker" when Aadil enters. He asks someone to come in. The boy is quite tall. Dark skinned but kind of has a shiny appearance. Lots of hair. He is quite handsome. He is wearing a black jacket that suits him too well.
"I am Saeed. I was looking forward to meet you."
"Saeed? The name seems quite familiar."
"I am sorry. But I also don't know you at all."
"You are not supposed to know me. I am Amber."
"Aadil told me you wanted to meet me."
Saeed is my best friend Zara's current boyfriend. She told me about him and asked me to meet him for my opinion. She pushed me further because we were both in Mohammed sir's class but in different batches. I talked to him the day before over the phone and told him I wanted to meet him.
But I did not realize that Aadil was going to bring him immediately the day after though my sixth sense told me something like this was going to happen. Zara has taste. This guy is actually fabulous. But maybe he is a bit younger than me and not much older than Zara herself. Where did she find him?
"Well, you know Zara right?" I ask.
"Yeah. We are friends. You are her classmate?"
"Well. Are you just her friend?"
"What do you know about us to put such a comment?"
"Let's just say, I knew nearly everything except how you looked."
Saeed is surprised but not nervous. Seriously, Zara has not told him a thing about me? Or does she use my nickname. If she does, I am going to kill her. No one has the right to call me by my nickname except those people who tells "I love you" to me at least once.
I explain to him how I know him. I also tell him that Zara talks to me about him nearly every day. But I am a bit displeased that she never mentions me to him. Saeed cannot seem to fit me with my nickname so he assumes that Zara probably never talks about me.
"If you want to talk alone, maybe I should leave," Aadil proposes.
"You don't have to go anywhere," I reply.
"Well, these matters seem too confidential."
"I am not comfortable with anyone else but you."
"You actually mean that?" he asked arching one eyebrow.
He smiles, pleased with himself. He sits down on a bench and looks down at his phone. Saeed and I continue to talk about Zara. I tell him that her mother has died recently and he should be quite sensitive about it. Also I share some tips about how to cope up with her mood-swings.
Saeed is a confident boy. He never once takes his eyes off me and listens attentively to every word I say. He also shares some problems that he is facing with Zara. He is a patient guy but Zara is trying his limits. He also doubts how long he can hold back his temper.
Zara is a born playgirl. The only person she never plays with is probably me. To me she confides all her secrets and confesses all her crimes. I am like her personal angel and she always takes my advice. I know why Zara is doing this. She is probably bored with him now.
Mohammed sir comes in and we all settle down. Hadi is going to be absent today, announces Uncle Sahib. I cannot ask him the reason because he is in a hurry. Is Hadi alright? He hardly ever misses class. I think about all the worst possibilities while bringing out my QPs.
Aadil takes his usual seat and Saeed sits directly behind me. I want him at my eye distance but cannot tell him anything. I continuously fix my hijab and cast sideways glances. The thought of Saeed getting a full profile of my backside view seems to get on my nerves.
I am very much uncomfortable with people getting a look behind my back. Aadil seems to understand the matter after a few moments and asks Saeed to come and sit beside him and help him with his math. I offer a silent prayer to God and thank Aadil in my mind.
"So Saeed. What made you wake up so early today?" asks Mohammed sir.
"I suddenly got woken up, sir," Saeed reply.
"What caused it? A nightmare perhaps?"
"How do you know it? It is actually true."
"I know everything about teenage boys like you."
Mohammed sir seems quite pleased with himself about guessing his reasons for coming today. Saeed smirks a bit when sir goes back to board. This guy is quite smart and knows how to manage people well. But I know it is impossible for anyone else but me to manage Zara.
Class comes to an end and I have to get home. Saeed goes early because he has to come back again at 4pm. I ask Aadil to come along with me. He seems a bit depressed. Maybe he is thinking his competition has come. But he does not know where his place is in my heart.
