I tried to warn Rapunzel before Pitch made a move. When she fell limp I heard Eugene scream. I ran inside. I picked up Eugene and flew him to North's workshop. I gave him to Tooth.
"Take care of him. Pitch is back and he's got Rapunzel." I quickly explain. I flew off leaving them in the dust hoping to find a little sign that Pitch had been through there. I soon found a nightmare heading back to the liar. I quietly, stealthily, followed it. I soon came to see the lair. I quietly flew in. I saw Rapunzel curled up in a ball. She was covering her ears for something. Then I saw Pitch. He was laughing coldly. I realized that he was torturing Punz. I flew into action kicking Pitch in the face. Rapunzel was still plagued with whatever was scaring her. I tried freezing Pitch to the wall but it wasn't working. Rapunzel eventually got to her feet. She was pacing the floor, her eyes closed and her hands covering her ears.
"Make them stop! Make the screaming stop!" She screamed to no one in particular. She was starting to panic, which was only making Pitch stronger.
"Rapunzel can you hear me?" I yell while keeping Pitch's focus off of her. She took her hands off her ears. She still kept her eyes closed.
"Those screams aren't real! There your worst nightmares! Everyone is alive! Pitch is trying to make you afraid so he gets more power!" I yell. I was facing her because I had previously froze Pitch to the wall. She opened her eyes. The widened and before I knew what happened, she jumped in front of a black arrow heading straight toward me. It pierced her stomach and she fell to the floor.
"Give up Jack Frost! You guardians are no match for me!" Pitch laughed. I screamed in fury and unleashed my full arsenal of ice powers. I avoided hitting Rapunzel. Pitch was taken care of, for now. I rushed over to Rapunzel. Black sand was spreading from where the arrow was impaled. She opened her eyes which already started to fade.
"I love you Jack. Tell Eugene and everyone else that I'm sorry. Tell my family I love them too." I interrupted her.
"You're not going to die! We'll figured out how to reverse it." I say tears running down my face. I held her as her eyes closed again. I picked her up, and flew as fast as I could to the workshop. When I came in Tooth was teaching Eugene to floss and the rest of them were working. I kicked open the door, and ran to Sandy.
"Can you fix her?" I ask showing him Rapunzel's wound. Tooth distracted Eugene as long as she could until he ran over here.
"Sissy?" He asked his eyes filling with tears. I nodded tears coming to my eyes too. He ran over to Tooth and hugged her. He was crying. I set Rapunzel down closer to Sandy and he closed his eyes. I sat there tears welling in the corners of my eyes. He eventually opened his eyes and shook his head. The tears spilt from my eyes. My head hung low as I looked at her. North patted my back. Tooth looked like tears were going to spill from her eyes too, but she held them back for Eugene's sake. Eugene ran up and hugged Rapunzel. Then looked at her hopefully. When nothing happened, he looked sad again and sat next to me. I gave him a hug. I felt him cry on my shoulder. I picked him up and sat him in my lap. For a five year old he was extremely bright. He started singing.
"Flower gleam and glow let your powers shine, make the clock reverse bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt, change the fates design, save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine. What once was mine." He sang with his eyes closed. He had an amazing voice. Soon after that, right before Rapunzel's body was completely covered in black sand, she started to glow. She started floating in the air and when she started doing that the crystal started to glow. It showed Rapunzel's figure. I gasped.
"Manny chose her to be a guardian." I whispered. I picked up Eugene and held him as Rapunzel's body turned back to normal. She started to float down and I soon heard a voice in my head.
Hold on to her. She will be important to the fight. Manny was talking to me. Rapunzel was set back on the ground and her bright green eyes opened. She gasped sitting up. She looked around confused and she smiled when she saw me holding her little brother. I set Eugene on the ground and he ran toward her, tackling her with a hug. She laughed. The laugh sent a ripple through the room, filling me with joy. By the smiles on the others faces, they felt joy too. I walked over to them. Eugene started glowing too. Just like Rapunzel.
He's too little to understand, but he is also a guardian. He's the guardian of joy, and laughter. Manny told me. I smiled.
"Welcome to the guardians little man." I turned to the others.
"He's the guardian of joy and laughter." Rapunzel smiled.
"I'm the guardian of light and love." She smiled. It was now my turn to hug her. I ran up and hugged her. Eugene hugged both of our legs. Rapunzel picked him up.
"I'm so glad your not hurt." She said. His head was against her chest and her chin was on the top of his head. I kissed her forehead and the other guardians made it a group hug. These are the new guardians. The tooth fairy, guardian of memories. Sandman, guardian of dreams. Santa Claus, guardian of wonder. The Easter Bunny, guardian of hope. Me, Jack Frost, guardian of fun. Eugene Corona, guardian of joy, and laughter. And Rapunzel Corona, guardian of light and love.
