【Chapter 10 Loving the Service Around Here Huh】
Aspen and I had finally gotten through the busiest part of the lunch rush and I manage to change my attitude with the other customers even shooting off a couple of smiles here and there. I had headed back behind the bar near Sam and Owen as they leaned against it chatting with a couple of gentlemen.
Sam noticed my approach and nodded a goodbye with the two men, and they finished their drinks and headed out of the place. Owen caught Sam's look at me and nodded at me with a cocky smile on his face.
"Well, well, well, little Jones seems to be pretty good on her feet. Who would of thought the model knew how to serve a restaurant full of hungry southerners?" He throws back a hearty laugh. He heads over to his right to grab a rag and wipe down the bar.
"Owen's right. You're doing really well here for your first day." Sam compliments leaning against the bar while he looks down at me.
I can see a flicker of pride in his eyes, but he doesn't say much else.
"I mean I use to be on my feet a lot and wore heels all day except for school. So, the standing around doesn't bother me much." I shrug my shoulders before I tuck the rag in my apron and grab a clean glass filling in up with cold water from the tap connected to the bottom counter.
"You used to spend a lot of time doing photos shoots and shows then?" Sam asked curiously still watching me.
"More than I'd like. I was always behind in school." I reply before taking a big gulp to buy myself some more time, so I didn't have to face my big brother's piercing gaze.
"It's a wonder you didn't end up failing your year." Owen comes up joining us.
"Owen." Sam scolds before adding an eye roll.
"No, he's right. I actually had a tutor." Ollie.
"Well that's good. I remember my tutor." Owen reminisces before letting out a low whistle.
"Lydia Peterson. We studied chemistry for about half an hour until we study biology for an hour in the back of her mom's minivan parked behind the movie theatre down on orchard avenue." Owen stare's dreamily gazing into space.
"Dude you are so fucking gross." Sam groans before rubbing his hands down his eyes as if to try and clear the image from his brain.
"Oh come on Sam. I know for a fact that you enjoyed a little 'study sess' too with Sara Johnston." Owen looks over to Sam with a righteous attitude and his grin couldn't be any bigger.
Sam's cheeks pink and he avoids eye contact with me. He's too busy glaring at Owen's grin. Owen then looks over to me with a shit eating grin and I know I'm not going to enjoy his comment.
"Ah come on I'm sure even little Jones participated in her own little 'study sess'. He says with a laugh and can't fight the heat that rises to my checks as I catch Sam cringe as he says it. He wasn't wrong, Ollie was a fantastic tutor. He was talented in many areas.
"That's enough Owen. Leave Parker alone." Sam's still trying to fight off the images that Owen keeps planting and reaches over to punch Owen in the arm. Owen releases a grunt before rubbing his arms and mumbling something under his breath.
Before I have a chance to recover from Owen's comments the blonde dude from earlier approaches us. Or rather me.
"Excuse me miss?" He states leaning across the bar right in front of me.
