The Vampire's Bride

Chapter 30

Everyone was looking at us when we were announce. Well mostly just at me. The one and only vampire female. I hate being the center of attention. This was going to be a long night for me.

Ash introduced me to everyone brave enough to approach us. There was no way I was going to remember everyone's names. There was like 500 people here. Vampires, werewolves, witches, even some fae creatures.

Ash spots Seb and Stella and heads in their direction. A man however steps in our path stopping us before we reach them.

He was tall like Ash. Maybe 6'3. He had dirty blonde hair that looked like it hasn't been washed in a couple days. He had brown eyes and a huge nose. His lips were wide and thin. He was extremely unattractive.

"Ash introduce me to your female friend here." He tries to give me a charming smile but it just comes off creepy as hell. I noticed when he smiled too he had a gap in between the center of his center of his two bottom teeth.

Ash stiffens next to me but it was I who corrected him. "We're mates. Funny, I thought it was kind of obvious though." I lift an eyebrow at him. I didn't even know this guy but I already couldn't stand him. The vibes he was giving off were all negative and wrong.

"I'm sorry, love." He was in fact not sorry. His voice wasn't sincere in the least and he was starting to piss me off.

"My name is Cora, not love. Did you miss when they announced us? I could have sworn it was by name."

"A bit of a bitch, isn't she?" I narrow my eyes at him and open my mouth to say something really rude but Ash quickly speaks before I can.

"No she isn't. She's only stating facts and you're being very rude. Now before you really piss her off we're going to be going on our way. Excuse us."

He tugs me away from the rude guy quickly. I didn't even catch his name but that didn't really bother me. "Sorry about him babygirl. Just ignore him."

We're almost to Seb and Stella when he continues talking. "His name is Steven. He's jealous of me because he tried out for the assassin position and failed.

He's Zack's personal guard but rumor has it that he's looking to replace him. Honestly I'm not sure how he's gone this long without getting himself or Zack killed yet.

Try avoid him when I'm not around. I'd hate to find out what would happen if I wasn't there to intervene. "

That made sense. The guy did seem immature and lacking. I wonder how he got his position in the first place. I turn back to look at him and catch him glaring at us.

He didn't strike fear in me the way others did. I couldn't get passed how creepy he was though. I was one hundred percent certain I could take him in a fight though.

"Good evening Cora, Ash." Seb greets us. I give him and Stella a friendly smile as Ash returns their greeting to them.

I glance around at all the people around us. Going from a loner to being surrounded by this many people was extremely overwhelming. I never did good in crowds like this even while I was growing up.

I was thankful Ash was with me but I wasn't sure how I was going to survive it when he leaves. Maybe I could sneak out with him when he has to leave and then go back to my room.

"Baby? Cora, did you hear me?" Ash's voice pulls me out of my thoughts and climbing anxiety.

"I'm sorry. What was that?" I'm trying to focus on his voice but my anxiety was starting to become too much.

He pulls me into his chest and wraps his arms around me. His strong steady heartbeat and the scent of him start to calm me down. I loved his scent. He smelled like the rainforest. Everything around us starts to fade away as my breathing returns to normal.
