You had been invited to a party with your friends, but the only problem was that it was a dance party.

You felt really, really self-conscious about dancing in front of people. It was just a thing you had. You didn't even know why.

Your friend Charlie had convinced you to go and you had rolled your eyes and reluctantly agreed.

Well, now you were here and the party was in full swing and you felt like an idiot because you didn't like to dance.

"C'mon, Y/N. Just dance, it's not so bad. Everyone else is doing it," Charlie said when he saw you standing by yourself by the bowl of popcorn in the kitchen.

"I just feel dumb," you admitted to him.

"You don't have to feel dumb," he said. "Just have a good time. I promise, dancing is so much fun. You would love it if you tried it."

"I don't know, I just think dancing is dorky."

"Ok, so be a little dorky sometimes. It's ok to party hard and look like a dork while doing it. I do it all the time. And you know I'll knock anyone's teeth out if they give you shit for it." You sighed.

"Fine." He took your hand and dragged you into the living room, where the lights were off and the TV and its speakers were roaring with music. You began to jump up and down with Charlie and you had to be honest, maybe it was a little fun.

In no more than 10 minutes, you couldn't deny you were having a great time. Charlie smiled at you and you smiled back.

Maybe it was worth it to act like an idiot sometimes. Maybe you didn't always have to look completely dignified and put together.

Maybe it was ok to be a little dorky sometimes.
