Her mother laughed as she brought out a plate of pancakes. They were playing Hamilton through a wireless speaker as the adults cooked.

"Angelicaaa, Elizaa, and Peggy," she sang, tapping Angie and Eliza on their heads, then Jake's when it was "and Peggy." He pretended to be grumpy about this, but the atmosphere was too happy for it to be real.

"Time for school!" her dad called after they were all done.

"Awwww, I don't wanna go!" 8 year old Angie complained. But they all trudged out to the car, carrying backpacks and lunches. Suddenly, Eliza gasped.

"Oh, crap, I left my book! I'll take the bus!" she cried, jumping out of the minivan. "Bye! See you later!" She waved to her siblings and mom, who were in the car she had just come out of, and her dad, in his ancient Toyota. But she only saw her dad later.

Her mom, Angie, and Jake never made it to school. Because they would stop at a light, but the person behind them wouldn't. And they would never even make it to the hospital after. And her dad hugged her tightly, so tightly when they were in front of them but not really there and everyone was wearing black and her family was in three boxes.

She hated remembering things.
