She made it a whole week before her dad called a family meeting.
"Look, Liz,"
"My name's Eliza." Her dad sighed and muttered something under his breath about how they couldn't have a simple conversation.
"Fine, Eliza," he continued. "You've gotten very moody lately. Now, I know you're having some changes in your bo-"
"DAD! NOT THE PUBERTY TALK!" she groaned. He rolled his eyes.
"Anyway, you spend all day holed up in your room with the TV on and you never talk to me, except to argue about things."
"I didn't want to move," she said.
"I know, hun, but we had to."
"NO, WE DIDN'T!" she exploded, standing up. "WE COULD HAVE STAYED AT HOME WITH-WITH them." She lost steam and sat down, her head in her hands. Her dad waited patiently.
"Eliza? I have something to tell you. I-I met a woman when I started my job. And yesterday she asked me out to dinner. But I told her I needed to talk it over with you."
"Does she have kids?"
"Yeah. Her daughter's name is Jane."
"UGGGGGHHHHHHHHGHGHHH!" Her dad looked surprised.
"You know her?"
But Eliza was already slamming the door to her room.
