Chapter 10

Carry me home when the light in my eyes does fade
Carry me home when the shadow comes to take me away
Lay down my bones knowing I'll be in a better place
Release my soul, carry me home

Dean's POV

Sam and I are searching the corridors, looking for Dr. Garrison, I see him ahead. "Dr. Garrison! We need to speak with you." I say. "Detectives. What can I do for you?" Dr. Garrison asks. "Well, uhm...it's about Callie." Sam says. "My daughter? What about her?" He asks. "You know maybe, maybe could we sit down for minute?" Sam asks. "No. What about her?" He asks annoyed. "Kay. Well um. All right, Doctor, this isn't gonna be easy. What happened to Callie was not an accident." I say.

"Excuse me?" He asks. "I'm sorry, but it's true." Sam says. "You have no idea what happened to my daughter." He says turning away and walks away. Me and Sam follow. "There are things you don't know, Doctor, about your wife." I say. "My wife." He asks. "Doctor, your wife poisoned Callie." Sam says causing Dr. Garrison to stop and turn around.

"Why would you say something so horrible to me?" He asks. "Because we need your help." I say. "You stay away from me, and from my daughter, you two understand?" He glares. "Doctor, this isn't...Please." I say but he walks into Callie's room, shutting the door in my face. I sigh and open the door. Sam closes it behind us.

"I'm calling security." He says and reaches for the internal phone. I clamp my hand over it to stop him. "No, listen. We don't have time to do this gently. If you don't listen to us more people are going to get hurt, because Callie is going to hurt them." I say.

"What the hell are you talking about?!" He yells. "You're gonna think we are crazy, but just understand us. Your daughter Callie is still here. She's a spirit." Sam says and Dr. Garrison looks over at Callie sadly. He sits at the end of her bed, turning back to us. "So, you two have seen her too." He sighs.

"I sensed her...Callie. Her presence, her scent. I even saw her standing at the foot of my bed but I never...believed it, I thought I was dreaming, I...." He trails off. "It wasn't a dream. She looks like she did when she was eight. White dress. Red ribbon in her hair. She's been trying to talk to you." I say. "You two aren't cops are you?" He sighs. "No." Sam says. "Then who are you?" He asks. "People who know alittle bit about this kind of thing." I say. "But what you said about my wife poisoning Callie, that's..." I cut him off. "Sir. Callie told us."

"What?" He asks. "Not in so many words, but in her own way. She told us." I say. "My wife loved Callie. So how is...how is that possible?" He shakes his head. "I don't know. But it is." Sam says. "No. No...I...I don't believe you." He says. "Look, Callie is killing people. She's angry. She's desperate, because nobody will listen to her. So, you have to listen to her. Please, listen to your daughter." Sam says. "Callie? Callie, it's Daddy." He says to his daughter. "It's me, Daddy. Is it true? Mommy did that to you? I...I know I wasn't listening before, but I'm listening now. Daddy's here. Please honey, is...is there anyway that you can tell me?" He asks. "Doctor." I say as he looks up at me and I nod towards his side where Callie's spirit stands, looking sad and forlorn. "Is it true?" He asks and she nods.

"Oh I'm so sorry, baby. But listen to me. You gotta stop what you're doing, okay? You're hurting people. I know everything now. I know the truth. It's time for you to let go. It's time for me to let you go." He says as he turns back to Callie's body in the hospital bed. He caresses her face and kisses her forehead tenderly. Callie's monitors buzz and flatline. I look down and sigh.

We stand with Mr. Garrison at the nurses station. "And the girl's okay?" He asks and Skye nods. "So. It's really over." He says. "Yeah. All thanks to you." I say. "Callie was the most important thing in my livfe. But I should've let her go a long time ago." He sighs. "See ya round Doc." I say and he sighs shakily. "I sure hope not." He says and pats my shoulder and walks away. "You know what he said? Some good advice." I say. "Is that what you want me to do Dean? Just let you go?" Skye asks I look at her not answering her. To be honest I don't want her to let me go. I walk away.

Skye's POV

I crouch at the center of a crossroads holding open a box. I exhale as I add a photo ID to the contents. I close the box and bury it with my hands. I dust off my hands and stand, surveying the four routes of the crossroads. A guy dressed in a tux, with red eyes appears. "Well. Skye Lacey. I'm touched. I mean...your boyfriend's been to see a friend of mine twice, but you? I never had the pleasure." He says and I glare at him. "What can I do for you, Skye?" He asks as I point the colt at him.

"You can beg for your life." I say. "We were having such a nice conversation. Them you had to go and ruin the mood." He says. "If I were you, I'd drop the wisecracks and start acting scared." I glare. "It's not my style. That's not the original Colt. Where did you get that?" He asks and I don't answer. "Ruby. Had to be. She is such a pain in my ass. She'll get what's coming to her...you can count on it." He smiles. "That's enough. I came here to make you an offer." I say. "You're gonna make me an offer? That's adorable." He laughs. "You can let Dean out of his deal right now. He lives, I live. You live. Everybody goes home happy. Or." I cock the colt. "You stop breathing. Permanently." I add. "Oh. All this tough talk. I have to tell you, it's not very convincing. I mean, come on Skye. Do you even want to break the deal?" He laughs.

"What do you think?" I ask. "I don't know. Aren't you tired of cleaning up Dean's messes? Of dealing with that broken psyche of his? Aren't you tired of being bossed around like a snot-nosed best friend? Tired of seeing him with other girls? You're stronger than Dean. You're better than him." He says. "Watch your mouth." I glare. "Admit. You're here, going through motions. But truth is...you'll be tiny bit relieved when he's gone." He smirks. "Shut up." I clench my jaw. "No more desperate, sloppy, needy Dean. You can finally...be free." He says. "Shut up!" I yell. "Huh. Doth protest too much if you ask me." He says.

"All right, I've had enough of your crap. You let Dean out of his deal right now." I say. "Sorry sweetheart, but your boy toy's and adult. He made that deal of his own free will, fair and square. It's iron clad." He says. "Every deal can be broken." I say. "Not this one." He says. "Fine. Then I'll kill you. If you're gone, so's the deal." I say. "Guess again." He laughs. "What?" I ask. "Skye, I'm just a salesman. I got a boss like everybody. He holds the contract not me. He wants Dean's sould, bad. And believe me. He's not going to let it go." He says. "You're bluffing." I say. "Am I? Shoot me, if it'll get you of. But the deal still holds, and when Dean's time is up, he's getting dragged into the pit." He chuckles. "Then who's your boss? Who holds the contract?" I ask.

"He's not as cuddly as me, I can tell you that." He says. "Who is it?" I glare. "I can't tell you. I'm sorry Skye. But there's no way outta this one. Not this time." He smirks. I tear up and let out a sigh as I shoot the Crossroads Demon right between the eyes. He goes down with a groan as I watch.
