Chapter 3: It's you

Mary looked perplexed as the question was so simple. She couldn't comprehend how that would prove she's Namjoon's soulmate but she did as she was told and answered "White. The box is white and the text is black." The translator translated her response and Manager Sejin smiled before giving some instructions to the translator in Korean. The translator then directed his attention to the girls in line behind Mary and said "Ladies, everyone please go home. We have found who we are looking for." The guards next to Manager Sejin proceeded to direct the other girls away from the front entrance as the translator brought his attention back to Mary. "Congratulations miss Mary, you are Namjoon's soulmate. Please follow us to where you can meet him."

As they walked inside the venue which was now empty, Mary nervously asked the translator "How did that question determine I was Namjoon's soulmate? It was such a simple question and even colorblind people could answer it. I'm confused. How did you know it was me?" The translator exchanged words with Manager Sejin and translated his answer, "Manager Sejin said that colorblind people don't know the difference between a color and black and white. He knew that only girls who hadn't met their soulmates, so colorblind girls, would show up to try and pass as you miss Mary. So, when we asked the other girls what the color of the box was, they guessed actual colors like red, pink, blue and so on in the hopes that they would've guessed the correct color. However, you knew it was black and white because you actually see color. So even though it's black and white to everyone, colorblind people will always assume everything they see is an actual color, not black and white." Mary thanked the translator and continued walking in silence as she thought to herself about how smart that was and wondered where they were taking her.

Namjoon was instructed to wait on the stage for his soulmate. He paced around nervously thinking about how he would introduce himself to the mysterious young woman who was his soulmate. As he paced around, time passed and nobody came to the stage. Namjoon began to lose hope as he thought to himself "Maybe she doesn't want to be with me. Maybe she's scared that I'm a celebrity and would rather keep to herself." Jin came out from backstage as he noticed Namjoon distressed. He patted Namjoon's shoulder and told him "I know you're worried. I can see that. But relax I know she'll come. I can feel it." Namjoon brushed Jin's hand off his shoulder and sighed. "What if she doesn't like me?" Jin replied, "I know you're not the worldwide handsome man like me and that can be hard." Namjoon chuckled as Jin continued, "but you're Kim-Namjoon of BTS! If she doesn't like you, that's her loss. Besides, she's your soulmate and the universe paired you with her for a reason right? She has to like you." Jin noticed some people approaching on the opposite side of the stage and wrapped up his pep talk. "Anyway Joon, you will be totally ok. I promise." Jin walked backstage and left Namjoon behind on stage.

The translator walked Mary to the stage and said in English "Mr. Namjoon, please meet your soulmate Miss Mary." Both Namjoon and Mary were frozen as the translator and Manager Sejin left the stage and left them alone. Their hearts were beating so fast and neither of them said a word for what felt like an eternity. Namjoon finally decided to break the tension and turned around to look at Mary standing before him, beautifully dressed. Mary looked at Namjoon in awe and amazement as he was well dressed in a black suit and tie with his hair done.

Namjoon cautiously approached Mary in silence and once they were a few feet apart their eyes met once again and like magic, Namjoon and Mary had a flashback of the previous night where their eyes met and the world turned to color. "It's you," Namjoon happily said. He smiled and Mary began tearing up as she was overwhelmed with joy which concerned Namjoon. "Are you ok, Miss Mary? Did I do something wrong?" She quickly wiped away her tears and said "No, Namjoon. I'm just so happy and I can't believe this is happening right now. I never thought I would find my soulmate." "Neither did I," Namjoon said, "Look at me, finding my soulmate at 26. I'm an old man." They both giggled as they looked into each other's eyes again. Mary fumbled through a sentence, "So uh...I'm Mary. I'm 20 and I have been an ARMY since a year ago. I know it's not long but something about you in particular captivated me." "You're captivating me right now, Mary" Namjoon said flirtatiously.

Hobi ran on stage yelling (with Jin chasing behind him) "Is this her? Is this your soulmate?" Jin, out of breath said, "I'm sorry Joon. I tried to keep him from interrupting you." Mary, a little lost since she didn't speak Korean, but also excited because she was meeting more of the members, smiled at them and waved. Namjoon said, "Oh so sorry Mary, these are," but was interrupted by her with a giggle. "I know who they are. You're J-hope and you're Jin. My hope, your hope, J-hope, and worldwide handsome man!" They all laughed at the fact that Mary knew about them, but of course, she was an ARMY. "I like her," Jin said, "She knows my catchphrase." Hobi looked at Mary and said "You got a pretty one Joon. You're a lucky man."

Namjoon kind of gave Hobi a dirty look that Jin also noticed. "Uh, Hobi," Jin said, "Let's go check on the others. We'll see you soon Joon." Jin pulled Hobi away from them as Namjoon redirected his attention to Mary. "I'm sorry about them Mary." She giggled and said, "No worries Namjoon. It was nice meeting them, exciting too." Namjoon contemplated what to do with Mary now that they had met. Obviously, she was an ARMY so he considered taking her to meet the other members but he wanted to get to know her too. "Mary, would you like to meet the other members?" She was shocked that she was offered that so soon and kindly replied with "It would be an honor, but only if you're ok with it. I don't want you to think that I came here only to meet them and then dip."

"No Mary. I don't think you would do that, you don't seem like the kind of person to do so."

"That's very kind of you to say Namjoon. Thank you."

"How about you and I go out for a drink and then we can head to the hotel room where the boys and I are staying and hang out with them for a little?"

"That sounds perfect. Thank you."

Namjoon excused himself for a brief moment to tell the others what the plans were and walked backstage leaving Mary alone. As soon as he was out of Mary's vision, she screamed with excitement and jumped up and down. She immediately called Gianna and told her everything!

"Mary you're very lucky about Namjoon being your soulmate but be careful."

"Why?"

"Dating a celebrity can be difficult. He'll be busy and once the fans find out you're his soulmate, I don't know what they're going to do."

"ARMY is a wholesome community, I'm sure they'll understand. They knew the others found their soulmates before and never said anything about it."

"I guess so but still, be prepared for anything."

"Ok Gianna, thanks for hearing me out."

Meanwhile, Namjoon was telling the boys about how amazing Mary was. "Tell us everything," Yoongi said with an excited tone. Jungkook jumped in, "Yeah, all Hobi said was that she's an ARMY and Jin refused to let him tell us more because it's 'Joon's job to introduce us to his soulmate.'" Namjoon laughed and said "I appreciate that Jin." Jin winked at Namjoon. "Tell us already!" Taehyung yelled. "Ok, ok. She has amazing eyes, she's very beautiful, she's 20, and her name is Mary. She doesn't speak Korean so when you guys meet her I will translate for you all." "She's 20?" Jimin asked, surprised. Namjoon continued, "I know, she's very young compared to me but she has a mature personality. I could tell by the way she reacted when Hobi and Jin came in. Any normal girl her age would've gone totally fangirl; she's different, in a good way." "Oooooooo!" all the boys exclaimed. "Who would've thought you'd find yourself an American girl, and an ARMY of all girls?" Taehyung stated. Namjoon stood up and began heading for the door while saying, "I will bring her to the room tonight after we spend some time together. You all better be on your best behavior." "Ok dad. Whatever you say," Hobi said and the members laughed in response as Namjoon shook his head and left the room to reunite with Mary.
