Chapter 27: The Golden Maknae

Days went by and the tour was inching closer. The boys had some time off before the big tour to hang out with their soulmates and relax before being on the road, airplanes, and all that again. As time went on, Namjoon kept debating if he wanted to start a family with Mary and leave BTS behind. As he was sitting on the couch scrolling through pictures of him and Mary, Yoongi and Jin approached him to have a chat.

"Can we talk to you Namjoon? It's kind of important," Yoongi stated.

"Of course, please have a seat," Namjoon told them.

Yoongi and Jin sat down around Namjoon and sat in silence as they exchanged glances with worried looks on their faces.

"Well, what is it? You guys are scaring me," Namjoon said and cut the silence.

"As you know Namjoon, my time to be in the military was postponed because I'm a special case for being in BTS but after the American tour, I have to enlist because the extension is over," Jin shared.

"That is true, we have been preparing for your leave," Namjoon replied.

"See, the thing is Namjoon, I want to enlist with Jin so that I don't have to worry about it later," Yoongi mentioned.

"That's fine, this way when Jin comes back, you will too, and then we don't have to worry about enlisting anyone else until Hoseok and I need to (assuming we have the same extension as Jin)," Namjoon said.

"That's the thing," Jin began, "when we come back, we don't want to be in BTS anymore."

"What do you mean you don't want to be in BTS anymore?" Namjoon asked, shocked.

"Jin is 31, I'm 30, and we've been in BTS for 10 years. I think it's time we move on and start lives with our soulmates, settle down, have a family, and continue making music as solo artists," Yoongi stated.

"I even want to try acting because I have wanted to since before getting into BTS and I haven't had much of a chance to do that as an idol," Jin added.

"To be honest guys," Namjoon said, "I've been thinking about doing the same thing; enlisting in the army with Jin and then saying goodbye to BTS to start a family with Mary, I just wasn't sure how you guys would take it."

"At least you don't have to worry about us," Yoongi said.

"It's the maknaes we have to worry about. I'm sure Hoseok will understand but it might hit hard on the maknaes since they're much younger than us, especially Jungkook," Jin shared.

"Understand what?" Jungkook asked.

They all turned to Jungkook who was standing at the end of the hallway just coming into the conversation.

"How much did you hear?" Namjoon asked him.

"All I heard was something about Hoseok hyung understanding something and me and the other maknaes might get hit hard," Jungkook answered.

Yoongi and Jin looked at Namjoon as if they were asking "Should we tell him?" Namjoon nodded and they invited Jungkook to have a seat. They then explained the situation to Jungkook and expressed that they loved being in BTS but that they wanted to have a family before they got older and it was more tiresome for them to start a family.

"So you guys are leaving BTS after the American tour? You're just going to abandon me and the others? All three of you?" Jungkook asked, frustrated.

"No, no, it's not like that Jungkook," Namjoon calmly told him, "We're not abandoning you. You'll always have your hyungs if you need us, I promise."

Namjoon put a comforting hand on Jungkook's shoulder and Jungkook suddenly stood up and raised his voice.

"I gave up my teenage years for you guys, I learned to sing, dance, rap, and I did everything to live up to what everyone calls me: The Golden Maknae. I did my best to grow up and mature for you guys since you're all older than me. And you're just going to leave me by myself? I don't know what to do without you guys. You're my brothers and I'm lost without you. You guys are my whole life! ARMY is my whole life! BTS is my whole life! I can't believe you guys would just walk away from all of that without questioning it."
