Chapter 11

Tyler's POV
After Benny left I went to sleep listening to music. I then woke up about two or three hours later. Today's the talent show I thought. I groaned and got up. I put on something simple with my favorite letterman jacket. When I left the house I stood in front of the house and let the cool breeze hit my face and hair.

I walked to the school and sighed "It's now or never." I said glumly. I opened the school door and thought Why is a school open on a Saturday? When I entered the gymnasium I felt all eyes on me. I must've had a confused look because everyone stepped aside and when they did it revealed Alison. "Well,well we see our little friend shows up to the talent show but doesn't show up to school?!" She said. I rolled my eyes and said "Well at least I don't beat people up unlike some people!"

She walked up to me and said "Oh, I'm sorry you don't?! Well it kinda looks like you did beat up my brother!"

"Who's your brother huh ? "

"Phillips..." She said

Benny's POV
I walked into the gymnasium and saw that Tyler was already there. As I was going to call her name I saw a figure by her. It was Alison. I sighed and she saw me but kept talking to her. I heard Tyler saw something but couldn't really hear, which resulted in Alison slapping her.

"Where are the goddamn teachers when you need them?" I whispered. I grabbed Tyler's arm and she was shocked to see me. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" I said. "What do you mean Benny?" She said yanking her arm outta my grip. "I mean you obviously said something that made Alison slap Ya!"

"Oh that I figured out that her broth-" she was interrupted by someone calling her name. It was her turn to sing "wish me luck !" She walked away and got up on stage. "Today we have Tyler Avril Smalls, singing... Set Fire To The Rain!" Everybody applauded and seine handed Tyler a microphone.

She waited until they played the music.

She sang very beautifully, and the judges thought so too. When she came down she came running to me very happily. I hugged her and said "Congrats Ty!" She sighed and said "Thanks Rodriguez!" I laughed and as I was about to say something they called me up to sing. "Good Luck Rodriguez!" She called after me.

"We have Benjamin Franklin Rodriguez, singing... Try A Little Tenderness!" Said a judge. They handed me a mic and I saw Tyler smiling grandly at me. She waved and mouthed "Good Luck"

I waited until they played the music and started

When I finished I saw Tyler stand up and applaud. I ran off the stage to Tyler and she hugged me. When they called all of the contestants who had sung I got queasy.

"Today we are very proud to have a new first place winner, Tyler Smalls!" They gave her her reward and she laughed and cried at the same time. "Coming in second Benjamin Rodriguez!" On and on. When Alison saw that Tyler had taken first place she was outraged. As the sun was setting I grabbed Tyler's hands and looked at her right in the eyes and kissed her. She stood there but didn't kiss back. I looked at her and she was smiling. But her smile quickly faded as she looked past me. I turned around and saw.....
