2014
I admit meeting Ahsan was intentional. I often visit the restaurants he works for not to hog on free drinks, I came there for him. And the guys at the kitchen already understood this from the pattern of my frequent visits and I would avoid days where he's off.
Ahsan just turned 20 this year, youngest man I've dated. I wasn't sure if I'm really desperate for a man or I just hopelessly fell for his charm like how I fell for Aleks. But reckon it's the way he holds my stare with his sexy Kurdish hazel eyes when he served me the food.
And when he finally agreed to exchange numbers, I was elated like a schoolgirl. Ahsan had made me feel young again. And whenever his ID flashed on my phone screen, that fluttering emotions roused my guts.
Our conversations were casual at first but turned kinky when he finally asked to get laid. I would've expected this coming from an attractive party goer like him who still wants fun rather than settling down. After all, I've been dating six guys to understand this one, how is he any different?
And when things didn't work out between us, Ahsan dumped me and let his best friend Chris have me like I'm a tramp. I was outraged when he did this but it was my fault. I wanted Ahsan when from the beginning we knew, he wants no parts of it.
However, Chris turned out to be the opposite of Ahsan. I finally succumb to his proposal to meet up for a drink. And when we met for the first time, I found him to be just another tall lanky young man with ruddy complexion.
Chris is a year older than Ahsan and a total opposite of him in many ways. He's not gorgeous but not bad either. His unibrow isn't really much of a turn off but I admit it is distracting. He has a concave nose, greyish brown eyes, thin lips and his crew cut brunette hair made him look like a school boy, contradicting traces of stumbles sprouting on his jawline. But he reminds me of Dan and Aleks; selfless, gentleman.
I enjoyed Chris' company after finding him to be naturally chatty and a gossip. He works at a local shipping company as an intern. His imaginative stories claiming that his boss is an organised drug lord successor was like a narration out of a mafia movie, and it amused me.
I admit that Chris was the good guy every girl need. But Ahsan was the irresistible bad boy every girl wants. And when Ahsan realised we hit it off good, he got jealous and wanted me back.
It was selfish of me to accept Ahsan back when me and Chris was such a great couple. And it was hard for me to leave Chris without hurting his feelings. But I have to be honest with myself because I still desired for Ahsan. So, I gave Ahsan a second chance.
Such a terrible mistake I made for leaving Chris. It was unforgivable and I know it. And when Ahsan and I broke up the following month, the karma hit me and my pride rock bottom.
I tried to patch things up with Chris after what happened but he was no longer the loving guy who can still accept me with open arms. Well, I deserve this, I broke his heart and I should swallow any pride that was left in me from my greediness and walk away.
That's when I was ready to leave Manchester for good.
To be honest, this part of the chapter is my least favourite because the story between Sofia and Ahsan/Chris was somehow written in a crammed and hasty manner that readers might not be able to put their feelings to it. Even as I wrote/edit this countless times, I still have that impassive feeling reading it from readers' POV.
Let me know if you feel the same. Or otherwise.
