"Go find Ron," Hermione urged me, shrugging her shoulder as my head rested on it. "Better to get it over with now."

"Yeah," I sighed, reluctantly standing up. I'm really dreading this.

"I'll walk you to his room," she added, opening the door for me.

The two of us walked slowly and silently over to Ron's room. I tried to think of multiple different ways to say, "I kissed Draco," but unfortunately, each one was just as painful to say as the last. Same with "Draco has feelings for me." No easy way to drop that bomb.

"Here we are," she breathed as we stopped in front of the door. "You got this."

"Thanks," I said, smiling weakly.

She turned and left me standing alone in front of the wooden door, heart racing.

I'm just going to see my boyfriend, I thought. Just going to talk to him. This is normal.

My thoughts didn't soothe me in the way I wished they did. I lifted my hand and knocked on the door, biting my lip nervously.

There was no reply.

I waited a few seconds before knocking again. "Ron?" I called.

Still no answer. I took my chances and twisted the handle, the door creaking as I pressed it open slowly.

Inside was Ron sprawled out on his bed, mouth hanging open and snoring loudly. I stifled a laugh at his current state.

"Ron?" I said again, approaching him steadily. I placed my hand on his arm and shook him gently.

He gasped loudly when I woke him, sitting up immediately. He turned to look at me with a horrified expression on his face.

"Oh, y/n. It's just you," he sighed, putting his hand on his heart to catch his breath. "You bloody frightened me."

"You weren't lying when you said you were tired," I observed, sitting down next to where he sat up in his bed.

"I know," he yawned. "Crutching is hard."

I laughed a little, forgetting for a moment why I was here.

"So, what's up?" he asked, leaning back on one hand and running the other through his hair. Merlin, he looks so hot right now.

Focus.

"Listen, Ron, I have to talk to you about something," I started. I figured I should sort of prep him for the news, right?

He noticed I was anxious and leaned forward, reaching his hand out and placing it on my back comfortingly. "Jeez, y/n, you seem tense. Is everything okay?"

He's making this very difficult.

"Yeah, everything's fine," I lied.

But I can't lie to him. I have to tell him now, before Draco does. It will be much better if he hears it from me.

"No, I mean, it's not," I backtracked, stumbling over my words a bit.

His face twisted into concern immediately, and he tilted his head, ready to give me his full attention. My heart practically melted. "What's the matter?"

"Well," I began. "You know how you noticed something weird about Draco recently?"

He nodded vigorously, listening to me very intently.

"Well, he, uh," I stuttered, still searching for the right words. I looked up at his face. He was so engaged in what I was saying, so ready to listen and help with whatever I was about to tell him.
