10. Being Thoughtful

(Sorry this chap took so long! I'm working on my college applications right now. Thank your patience!)

"Alright..." Me and Ahli's eyes lingered on the door right after the members left, until I turned to them with raised eyebrows, "What do we do?"

"I promised Hyungwon I was going to make cookies, so I'm going to see if they got stuff for that." Ahli said proudly. My jaw dropped.

"Wait- you're going to do what?" I said shocked. They made their way to the kitchen and I followed them as they started to rummage through the cabinets for ingredients.

"Just some apology cookies, because someone had to go on a date and almost kill themselves making me get mad at Hyungwon." They said sarcastically but the edge in their words struck my heart subtly. I knew they were poking fun but I wasn't the best at taking direct jokes. 

"Pfft, it was not a date and I'm sorry, it's not like I was offering myself to the wolves. I'm okay now, that's what matters." I said softly as I placed a comforting hand on their shoulder. I saw their face release the tension between their eyebrows as they turned to look back at me.

"I know... I just got scared. I can't imagine what a world without you would be like." I felt a warmth in my chest at their kind words and a stupid smile started to emerge on my face.

"Aw Ahli, I can't imagine a world without you either. The only way I would die before you would be because I killed someone for you and I got the death penalty." I said with a smirk on my face. I enveloped them in a hug and rubbed their back as I said that final sentence. They let out an indifferent giggle, comfortable at my threatening words.

"But y'know let's not get mad at the members for stuff that's out of their control." I gave a final comment sarcastically, but I felt Ahli tense up slightly in my arms.

They pulled back, "Well... it might be too late for that."

My eyebrows dropped, "What did you do... Did you get mad at Minhyuk!? You two looked pissed at each other earlier."

"I would've decked him in the face if Shownu didn't stop me... But I'm not trusting him with your safety! It's because of him that you're forced to be here against your will! Don't get me wrong this is cool and all that we're in their dorm right now, but we had the choice of either you getting killed and this!" They raised their voice slightly and their words quickly shot out to me. I hardened my face from shock at their words. I was taken aback by their tone, they have a point.

"I'm not choosing to be here because of the possibility of death! Last night, Minhyuk was telling me I still had a choice, I always did come to think of it. The rest of this trip is our adjusting period. I have the decision by the end of the trip when we go back to America wether I want to stay there or here in Korea. He really listens and makes sure that I'm comfortable. You should've seen how kind he was at the cafe." I whispered that last part under my breathe. Ahli chewed the inside of their lip in thought, but I hated to argue.

I grasped their hands and held them in mine in a reassuring gesture, "Listen. I'm thankful that you love me enough to be protective of me, and I know this whole situation is really wack and crazy, but it's in the past. Right now, let's make some bomb ass cookies for the guys." I smiled to them.

The hesitation in their eyes panged in my chest. I didn't want there to be tensions between us and the members, but I understood why they reacted negatively. They finally gave a nod and I gave a squeeze to their hands in assurance.

We searched around the kitchen for ingredients, but we couldn't find baking pans. We looked in all the cabinets. Nothing. I noticed in the hallway leading to the bedrooms on the first floor, there was plenty of cabinets for storage. Perhaps they were on there. If they had any. Ahli continued looking in the kitchen while I perused the hallway cabinets.
