Sorry if this is a little late, but your story is great for being your first one 😄😄😄 I'm a fairly new writer myself, so I'm not really sure what exactly would be bad about your story, but I'll try. The readers like new things and some get bored of reading the same thing over and over again, so make sure to make it have some cliches that the readers like, but not too many. Second would be twists, if you choose to have plot twists you have to make them surprising and impactful, something the readers would have never thought of.
Finally, you have to make your characters either likable or relatable because the readers would constantly hate on the story if they don't like the characters development. That's basically all you gotta look out for when you are reading a story...oh! And make sure you make it enjoyable and read your chapters sometimes, that's what I do (still don't know why people like my story).
P.S When I write my chapters I think 'does think make sense?' Or 'would I like this twists?' You gotta look from a reader's Pov. Also what I didn't mention was foreshadowing, don't make it too obvious but also don't make it so the big reveal would be ruined. Overall, just make a story that you can enjoy as well as the readers (that sounds so f*cking cliche).
