CHAPTER 23

Bob's POV (yes his name really is Bob)

The logs were ready to burn.

I always hated this part.

Slowly some of my fellow Romans laid Reyna down on the wood. I had never liked cremation. Burning someone just didn't seem human to me.

A few minutes later the Greeks appeared.

They seemed so much more peaceful than us. But then again that was the way it was back in Ancient Greece and Rome. The Greek gods more for culture and the Roman gods for war.

Why couldn't it be the other way around? I hated hurting people. I just wanted to write poems.

A match was lit. Soon the flames were licking at the innocent corpse laying peacefully on the ever decreasing amount of wood.

"Reyna Chartier, was a great demigod and we all appreciate what she did for us. She fought alongside others and helped us win many wars. She was a valuable half-blood..." Jason spoke to the two camps.

There was no mention on what a nice person she was. Or how she got along amazingly with pegasi. No. It was just about the battles she helped to win. The enemies she eliminated. (though they were few).

I could see the Greeks noticed as well. I was used to it but that didn't mean I approved of it. Tuning out the things Jason said, I scanned the Greek crowd.

Lots of demigod campers. That was for sure. They had on orange t-shirts that said "Camp Half-Blood" on them and had a pegasus on them. I looked down at my own purple shirt and sighed. I hated purple. Orange seemed more... well... fitting.

A centaur stood at the back of the crowd gazing with a sorrowful look in his knowing eyes. Hmm... must be their teacher... I studied Greek mythology for fun once... What was that teacher guys name again??? Hmm... It would come to me later. A few fauns were huddled off to the side also looking sorry but had a small look of confusion on their bearded faces. Another faun was seperated from the group, whispering to two demigods, a girl and a boy that looked around 16 or 17. The faun was chewing on his orange shirt nervously. Curious, I quietly walked away from the mourning Romans and stealthily crept to the Greek threesome.

"Shouldn't we say something?" the faun asked.

"We can't. Messing with a goddesses plans is not a good idea. She probably has something planned out that we shouldn't get ourselves into." The blonde girl warned.

What were they talking about? I got closer.

"Seriously Annabeth? Not even Chiron? Percy?" asked the faun hopefully.

Oh yeah. That was the centaurs name.

"No. It's too dangerous." the dark haired boy, Percy finalized. He looked over at who I assumed to be Annabeth. Anybody could tell they were together. Well... I could anyways.

All of the sudden all Pluto broke out. {Author's Note: That sounds SOOO weird. Ugh. I totally like Greece better. Doesn't 'all Hades' sound better? Personal thought. Didn't mean to offend anyone. SORRY if I did!}

"Why did you do it?" Sam, a boy from the Mars cabin shouted angrily at the Greeks. I quickly and silently ran back over to 'my side'.

"Meet me tomorrow morning at--." I overheard Percy whisper to his girlfriend. "At that lake river thing."

Hmm...

"Do what?" a boy with dark skin and a few years younger than me, maybe he was 13, asked.

"Oh you know what! Why did you kill her?"

If I was expecting anything, it certainly wasn't this. The peaceful Greeks? Kill Reyna? I doubted it. But nobly would ever listen to me so I just watched the argument.

"What??!!!!" Percy stepped out from the group. "You think we killed Reyna?!! Why would we? We have nothing against her, or you guys for that matter!"

"Oh how about you!" Priscilla, daughter of Ceres pointed at a girl standing near he front looking totally preoccupied until the sudden attention.

"Wha- what?" she muttered.

"You think Piper did this?!" A strikingly red haired girl shouted back. She looked really determined.

"I've seen her! She's jealous because Jason was with Reyna before her!" One of the late Reyna's siblings screamed shrilly.

"No!! I mean yes... But I wouldn't do this kind of thing! That would be horrible!" Piper protested.

That's when the centaur stepped in.

"We must discuss this later. I truly hope that you will come to a peaceful agreement but now is not the time to point fingers. If Camp Half-Blood would follow me back and I wish the rest of you good night."

Slowly the Greeks turned to leave. I had one thought in my mind.

Percy and Annabeth wouldn't be alone tomorrow morning.

---------------

Annabeth's POV

(6am the following morning)

I checked my watch.

58... 59....

I was interrupted by a quick kiss on my cheek by Percy.

My watch started beeping. (I had set an alarm.)

"Just on time." he smiled.

"Barely Seaweed Brain. Barely." I sat down across from him on the wet grass. The cool water rushed by us.

"So," I prodded. " Why did you want to meet me here?"

I heard a splash and suddenly a huge, unplanned wave crashed over me, leaving me completely and utterly...

Dry.

"SEAWEED BRAIN!!!"

I concentrated and there was a tug in my gut and...

Me, not being as skilled as Seaweed Brain, ended up making the wave take Percy along with myself into the rapids.

I opened my eyes and saw Percy. Oh I was going to get---

We were thrown out of the water high up into the sky.

I looked over at Percy. His expression of horror that matched mine told me one thing,

UH OH.

We fell down. But it wasn't straight down. We werent heading for the nice cushion of the water, but for the actual ground.

I closed my eyes and held on to Seaweed Brain, preparing myself for the worst when,

We landed on a pile of blankets.

A PILE OF BLANKETS!!!

WHAT IN HADES!!!???

I looked up and saw a boy around my age standing up and dusting his pants off.

Percy helped me up and I held on to him as he confronted the stranger.

"Now who are you??!!"

"Umm... Bob."
