Chapter 1: We Fall Into A Hole

Percy Jackson P.O.V.

There is a hole. In the ground. A swirling, sparking with energy hole in the ground. I am currently falling DOWN this potentially lethal hole in the ground. Who knows, this might actually be fun.

Ok let's rewind a bit shall we...

Picture this, a beautiful garden syringes lights dangling from the branches above illuminating the few people happened to be milling around there. Delicate wooden benches adorned with elaborate designs are spread out across this garden making it a perfect spot for one to just relax and think. Peaceful, calm, serene. Even the stars seem to hold their breath as to not disturb this. Ok, ok, you got the image? Great! Now take it, crumple it up, and throw it in the trash. Did this? Ok now fish that poor image out and then burn it. Now that you've done that, I can PROPERLY describe one of the weirdest nights ever.

Both camp were partying and celebrating. Best way to describe everything happening in one word? Chaos. Leo was on fire, barely being contained by my WiseGirl and the other daughters of Athens as Leo continues to stuff candy(the practically pure sugar kind of ones) into his mouth. To the side, watching this exchange with obvious disapproval is Calypso who'd only recently been freed by Leo who was at the time, finally able to break free from the Athens cabin and start his rampage this time on the Romans who upon seeing Leo's state immediately fleed as fast and far as they can. A little ways away the Ares/Mars kids were sparring for no particular reason. Or at least I hoped they were. Either way, they looked like they were having fun as they destroyed most of the garden leaving a trail of destruction in their dueling wake.

Looking around I spotted a clump of my closest friends and jogged over to them. There was Jason talking with his sister Thalia, Nick shrouded almost covered in shadows, and Piper tried and failed to charmspeak Nick out. Seeing me approach they greeted me in their own ways, Nick with a small nod, Jason with a wave and a hey, Piper with a smile, and Thalia with a kick to my shins.

 "Oww! What in the Hades, Thalia?! What was that for?!" I shriek grabbing my shin as it throbbed from her fast, powerful, and precise kick. 

 "Nothing, fish face, just wanted to," Thalia explains smirking up at me. Behind us everyone fell silent. Thalia and I didn't notice however, preoccupied with the matter of our argument at the second.

 "Grace..." I warned as behind be whispers and the shuffle of feet can be heard.

 "Jackson..." Thalia mimiced. Behind us the whispers turned into panicked murmurs and a few shouts.

 "You wanna go?" I asked already knowing the answer. The mimics turn to shouts and the shouts turn to screams as feet pound and people scatter.

 " You know I do-" Thalia begins before getting abruptly cut off by a shout.

 "Thalia, Percy! Watch out!" A warning a little too late from Annabeth as suddenly beneath us a sparking energy filled chasm stretches coloring our faces with all the colors of the rainbow. Just like that, in the blink of an eye. One millisecond it wasn't there, the next, it was. Then we're falling. And screaming. And... not falling anymore?

 "Got you..." Jason grunts as he holds me and Thalia by the arms, " Nico... " Above Jason, Nico eans over the holding on to Jason's legs and begin to pull. Seeing this dozens of other campers converge and attempt to pull us back up. It's all going well until... Nico slips. Losing his hold on everyone Nico slips falls forward, forward into the hole. And because Nico's falling, Jason is too. And be cause Jason was holding on to us, suddenly we were falling us fell. The last thing I saw before the hole closed back up was a firefly. I know it sounds weird, but at that moment I didn't even notice Annabeth or anybody else. At that moment, that butterfly, small, bright blue, and fast was the focus of my attention. And my last thought before everything went suspiciously black? Odd, I've never seen a firefly, much less a blue one around here...

And

then

everything

faded

to

black...
