Dennis and Maleah are in an abandoned office building, scattering blueprints and files of data. A whiteboard is set up with plans and streaks of multiple colors detailing the plans down to the exact minute of an eventful night. Jacob enters through the back entrance, sending a loud metal slam echoing through the room, walking in alone.
"Where's Bluwinksi?" Dennis asks in a disappointing tone.
"He's not coming," Jacob replies.
"Well what the hell, are we supposed to know how to set up a goddamn time machine?"
"I take it you're Maleah?" Jacob asks, suggesting toward the lady besides Dennis.
"Nice to meet you," she replies as she shakes his hand, insinuating that her and Dennis already have exchanged interactions and have become understanding of each other's motives.
"So what's your reason for doin this? What made you come her with him." Jacob asks Maleah, she pauses and hesitates before responding, thinking before she speaks.
"It has been a while since I've been in a government regulated facility, and I have some things I need to sort out, and luckily you need me for the right location." Jacob nods and looks to the ground for a moment before replying.
"Sounds reasonable enough..." he sits down and lights a cigarette, "I'm just helping out here so I can finally get paid."
"Is that all you've been looking forward to the last five years?" Dennis asks in disappointment.
"Bluwinski came to us when we were at our lowest, and we were this close to getting this one secured until the hawks had to come and rip our toy out of our cold hands, so now that you've convinced we actually have a chance to win this back... yes... that is all I am looking forward to..." He finishes his reasoning as he looks into Dennis's cold and sorry eyes, "I'm assuming that answer isn't the one you were hoping for, or nearly the one that is close to your own motivations."
Dennis snaps back at him. "MY reasons... are not reasons that concern you..." They are now standing close to each other ready to jump.
Maleah steps in between the two and gently separates the two. "C'mon, let's get to work... without your doctor we're gonna need to know what we're working with before we commit federal crimes."
Jacob slowly backs away and grabs a couple folders he brought back with him from Bluwinskis house. He puts them on a table in front of the two. "Here is the only research on space and time that he had in his house, copies from the warehouse, he said they aren't quite up to date, but a big part of this is how he figured out how to... open a hole in space, before we jumped onto the Titanic..." Jacob informed the two.
"This is great... I wish he chose to come but... I understand why he wouldn't want to fight this," Dennis replied. "This is a good start... let's get to work."
