5 years later
"They turn that shit on?" The passenger asks as the truck begins to shiver.
"You better get back there now!" Replies the driver of the cab.
In the middle semi-truck of the convoy headed towards Newmansville, the armored passenger grabs a shotgun and jumps out of his seat to unlock the door to the inside of the trailer. He swings open to the sight of Dennis slowly walking towards the cab door covered in streams of tears as the machine begins to die down. Without hesitation he swings the back of the shotgun across Dennis's face, knocking him to the ground. Dennis's face pressed against the metal floor. He points the gun at him.
"GET BACK!!! GET BACK NOW!!!"
He backs away slowly, his vision distorted, not a care in the world. The passenger grabs him by the back of his shirt and walks him over to the back of the trailer. Jacob looks up to see Dennis being held by the back, completely limp and weak, a moment passes before the passenger tosses Dennis onto the hood of the car, a moment after Dennis is able to kick the tuna can onto the hood with him.
"DRIVE AWAY NOW!!!" The passenger commands pointing the shotgun at the driver. The tuna can almost slides off the car but luckily Dennis grabs it just in time. The car manages to squeeze out of the pinch and removes itself from the convoy, slowing down and driving into a corn field, the convoy moves forward, leaving Dennis and Jacob behind.
The two men leave the damaged car behind, they walk in shame towards the back of the alley they used before to exit the rift. Jacob is disappointed in the fact that they were not able to steal the machine back, while Dennis is more accepting, his face depressed and slumped. He limps towards the back of the alley.
"I need to know where the hell you went..." Jacob asks Dennis, referring to the moment where the trailer housing the time machine shook and howled.
"Trying to get my life back... It wouldn't have mattered anyways, I came back the moment I left, he came out of the cab, he conquered, that is always what happened."
Jacob looks at Dennis for a moment in anger, and disbelief but soon comes to the understanding that he is right. The machine is at the Newmansville facility, nothing can change that. They both in shame take the tuna can and open it as Dennis holds onto the stretcher. The hole opens again, taking them back to the future.
2 Days Later
Dennis and Jacob emerge again from the hole, they land on the floor of the platform in the Newmansville facility. Surrounded by the equipment they had seen before. The wind is so loud they cannot think. They are almost tipped over by the forces of the air. A doctor notices the two from the outside of the room. The doctor runs over to the emergency button putting the base on lockdown. An alarm sounds hurting their ears. Dennis runs over the the monitor and plugs in the time coordinates of which they just left.
Jacob takes the stretcher and puts it on its wheels and heaves it in between the back doors of the room so they wouldn't be trapped. "THIS IS ALL VERY FAMILIAR" Jacob yells to Dennis looking around, as flashing red lights beam across the walls.
Loud winds circle in the room as the earlier set of Jacob and Dennis enter. They burst into the door to see two men running out of the opposite end of the room, the future Jacob holding onto the stretcher as the two exit from the other side. The two leave the room and begin running down the hallway once more, on their way away from the room.
"So that was us?" Jacob asks Dennis after seeing the past versions of themselves enter the room they just left.
"It was always us... It was always meant to be us..." he replies and he struggles to run, he is still weak and limb. They exit the building to encounter a dozen swat members pointing guns at them. Helicopters fly and beam lights onto them. Swat cars enter in the premise as the guard points them towards Maleah who is now exiting alongside the two. Jacob and Dennis come to a halt letting their stretcher roll off the curb and fall to the ground.
"HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM!!!" A swat member yells as they take the two to the ground, still at gunpoint. The three are taken into custody, and the mission fails.
