Dennis slams the door behind him to his apartment, he walks over to the fridge and grabs a corona. He lies on the floor with empty bottles at his thighs, looking at the ceiling fan going round and round. He mumbles "the wheels on the bus go round and... round". He drifts asleep and dreams. A younger version of himself in a bus full of other teenagers on a mission trip as they jokingly sing the wheels on the bus. A very younger Dennis looks at his girlfriend, her hair shines in the sunlight, brighter than any other. She looks at him, her eyes sparkle and glow. She reaches to hold his hand. The dream jumps to a time two years later, where the two swing back and forth to the slow music of the early two thousands in a highschool gym. Their love is immaculate and couldn't be broken by the strongest metal on earth. Flashes of the two loving one another, flashes of them laughing in the crowd of a performance at playhouse square, flashes of them studying in each others college dorms as the other plays video games, the dreams are memories played back in Dennis's head, of him and the love of his life.
Dennis wakes up in shock, the time is five twenty three in the evening . He looks over to his right, and over to his left, to find out he is still alone, drunk on the floor. He fixes himself and begins working, he stays up almost the rest of the night researching everything possible in order to help him find their stolen items.
The next morning Dennis wakes from his bed, he showers, washing away his filth. He cleans himself of his own regret, and refreshes his mind. Dennis dresses, very dapper and stylish, as if he is a new man looking forward to a great event. He grabs dozens of papers and sheets he had worked on the night before, almost not getting any sleep.
Three knocks at a door sound by Dennis as he patiently awaits the opening.
"Just a minute..." mumbles the man inside. Dennis knocks again.
"What the hell do you-" Jacob belts as he swings the door open as he puffs cigarette smoke to see Dennis all sharp and formal on his doorstep, "Dennis?"
"Good Morning sunshine..."
"What the hell are you doing," Jacob looks at his watch as it reads seven twenty three in the morning, "this early at my trailer?"
Dennis rolls his eyes as he begins to grab Jacob, "It's not that early pal... c'mon we got some work to do."
